As of this writing, America teeters on the precipice of financial disaster, thanks to President Obama's radical, leftist policies. According to Scripture, the Antichrist comes to power amid worldwide economic collapse and unbridled conflict in the Middle East. How close are we to the end of the world system? Is the Antichrist alive today? Bible scholar and prophecy-author Grant Jeffrey thinks so. "Scars" is one author's idea of what the end times, and the Antichrist, will look like--through the eyes of 16-year-old Becky Silver. Becky is innocent, charming, strong-willed, and highly sensitive, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Patience Prence is the same! :-) The narrative-writing is rich and colorful, the dialogue free-flowing and realistic. As a Christian novelist, I frequently use interior monologue to better convey the protagonist's thoughts and feelings, and the author uses it judiciously and effectively. One thing I especially appreciated was that Patience backs up her scenes with Scripture to emphasize her point. This way the curious reader can delve into the Bible and learn more about what she's describing. Overall, I found "Scars" to be a greatly entertaining and instructive story. The ending is one of the most riveting and moving I've ever read--and brought tears to my eyes. I truly believe this book will become a Christian classic. Gary Lombardo, Author of "My Friend Jesus"

Scars Patience Prence Spring Harvest, Mar 2010, $14.99 ISBN: 9780982633601 In a concentration camp in what was once the free United States of America, but now is the tyrannical Northern American Union, sixteen years old Rebekah Silver sits in a cell, contemplating how she came to bee here. She was a Southern California high school cheerleader until the earthquake destroyed her home. Becky has seen the tsunamis cause massive devastation eradicating metropolitan New York City and Florida while leaving much of the rest East Coast in ruins. In a world shattered by natural and man-made catastrophes comes Maitreyes the Prophet whose predictions always come true. He rises in power until he becomes the world's leader. When he dies, he is resurrected so that most people including Becky's mom believe he is the Christ. Anyone who fails to believe Maitreyes is God or keeps a bible with them is considered a heretic enemy of the state and sentenced to death. That is how Becky has ended up in a cage as she ponders how strong her faith really is. Patience Prence's End of Times saga targets the teen crowd with this fascinating one sitting thriller. Becky was a normal teen worried about passing tests and meeting boys until extraordinary circumstances changed her life. Now she must decide between her faith in the one God, which most likely will make her a martyr no one heard of, or bow to Maitreyes. Her tribulations make for an exciting saga. Harriet Klausner

Scars was such an exciting book that I was not able to put it down until I had finished reading it. The author was such a good writer that everything just flowed and kept you on the edge of your seat. I was so impressed that I bought several copy's and passed them out to my pastor and friends. This book is for all ages. I would love to see a movie made from this book for it was spellbinding, exciting, thrilling, with a powerful message. "Scars" made me realize that this story could really happen to anyone. I put myself in Becky's circumstances and asked myself "What would I do"? This book made me really think. Scars is about a young girl growing up in southern California who is interested in cheerleading and boy's. Her life suddenly turns upside down when a number of catastrophic events takes place. She searches for answers and asks God how he could allow this to happen. She realizes she is in the end times Tribulation as prophesied. I can relate to some of the events that the author writes about like the earthquakes in California. The earthquake chapter was so realistic as I have been in several earthquakes myself, like when the water sloshed out of the swimming pool into the house (this happened when I was in the Sylmar earthquake), and when the gas lines broke forming small volcano looking mounds in the street. What I liked most about this book was that the author used scripture to support the story. Good job Patience Prence.

After reading the first few pages of SCARS by Patience Prence, the suspense was spellbinding; keeping the reader wondering what was lurking around the next twist and turn the story would take. I loved the chilling account of possible catastrophic future events, (although I pray they wont really happen), and how the coming antichrist and false prophet may take their place on the world stage. It's definitely a page-turner, and worth reading more than once; and unfortunately, it is really scary if this is the future as foretold in the Bible. It is without a doubt that Patience writes in a realistic manner, the reader is drawn in as if they are standing right there next to Becky watching things unfold. I found the character development extremely well done, and continuing with many of the other characters. Perhaps the most appealing of this fictional tale is its closeness to present-day reality. With the Financial crisis and debt incurred by the United States, the declining dollar, the church straying from the truth, the scenario described here could very well happen. And not to mention all the conspiracy theories about the New World Order, North American Union, and Fema Camps, it really makes you wonder. I can give SCARS my highest endorsement, as an exceptional, intelligent, well researched fascinating story.

I really liked this book. I wasn't sure that I was going to like it when I first started, but before I knew it, I was hooked. It's an easy read and thrilling enough that you'll finish it quickly. Then you have time to ponder the message and pass the book on to others. Great book!!

I recently received a complimentary copy of "Scars" along with a request for a review. From a first-time author and self-published, this book differed from anything I'd previously reviewed, even before I turned the first page. The book declares itself right on the cover to be "an amazing end-times prophecy novel". The question is: does it live up to its own hype? Overall, "Scars" was an enjoyable read. The apocalyptic storyline was engrossing and the characters interesting. But, on the critical side . the book was really short, and at times, the writing seemed choppy and not well thought out. I found myself more than once totally disengaging from the story to ponder . "why didn't she re-write that?" In my humble opinion, the book fails to rise to the self-proclaimed level of "amazing". However, it is a very worthy first literary offering and I do hope that Patience Prence keeps on writing. I look forward to reading her next work. FYI: Thank you to Patience Prence and Spring Harvest for sending me this free copy of "Scars" to review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own.
