She never wanted marriage...

When a friend is forced to consider a marriage of convenience, Lady Amelia Staunton is determined to rescue her. But her plans trap her in an illicit seduction, and Amelia must marry him herself. Malcolm's all-consuming kisses and devilish humor might make up for her lost freedom, but she believes he will force her to abandon the Gothic romances she yearns to write. Since she can't escape him, she must distract him from her secret...

He isn't looking for love...

A powerful autocrat with a well-hidden rebellious streak, Malcolm MacCabe doesn't need another beautiful mistress - he needs an obedient wife. Obedience is not one of Amelia's virtues. But he's too enthralled by her wit and passion to let her go - even if it means risking the political reputation he is building to save his clan.

Their hearts can't survive the scandal...

Despite their intentions, every wicked embrace binds them together. But as their conflicting desires combust into insatiable hunger and unavoidable ruin, they must decide whether to pursue their personal destinies alone - or fight for the love that could destroy them both.

About the Author

Hopelessly uncool as a child, Sara Ramsey has overcompensated by becoming obsessed with fashion, shoes, and #regencyworldproblems. She has great taste in Champagne, bad taste in movies, and a penchant for tiaras. She also believes in taking naps, wearing sunglasses at night, and using Oxford commas. Sara currently lives in San Francisco, California, where she can be found drinking overly-artistic lattes and working on her next Regency historical romance.

This is the second books I've read by this author and I just can't get enough. I love the way her characters interact and the tension is delicious. I feel like I actually know them personally and I'm falling in love with them as they are falling in love with each other. And don't get me started on the steamy scenes. As with the first book, I basically read it in one sitting. I could not put it down. If you love Romance, you will love this book. I did.

First Posted on Romancing the Book Blog Reviewed By~Robin Review Copy Provided By~ARC Netgalley I just loved the second book in Ms. Ramsey’s Muses of Mayfair Series. In this lovely story, Scotsman Prefer Blondes, we find Amelia falling in love. This time the story takes us out of England and into Scotland where dreams can come true in those musty old castles. Malcolm meets Prue and takes her to dinner only to find that he is drawn to her friend Amelia. Amelia seeing that Prue is really scared and needs help decides to meddle in her affairs only to find herself compromised by kissing Malcolm and being forced to marry him. Secretly Prue is thankful but is also, mad that Amelia once again meddled in her friends affairs only to cause problems. Prue thought this to be her only way to escape her mother. As we move on in the story I couldn’t help but fall in love with Malcolm and Amelia. Where they find that sexually they are quite compatible there are always those secrets that seem to throw a wrench into every beginning of a good relationship. Moving to London to take his place in Parliament in hopes of helping his clan Malcolm is faced with Amelia’s past. That of a writer, in disguise, yet not just any writer but one that dared to wrote a book that tells all about the antics of the ton. Amelia is able to somewhat repair the damage in the relationship with her friend Prue and move on with Malcolm. But telling you anymore would be giving away the best of this story. Having read Ms. Ramsey’s first book Heiress without a Cause, I couldn’t wait for Scotsman Prefer Blondes to come out. I thoroughly enjoyed the first and was not disappointed by the second. Is it okay to say that I enjoyed this charming book more so than the first? I loved the characters and the way she weaves the magic of strong women and the friendships of those women into her books. I think that every true romantic will enjoy Scotsman Prefer Blondes and know that no matter how old you are there is still someone out there for everyone. Sometimes you just have to wait longer than others.

Ramsey's titles are cute and her ideas are good, but her writing could use a bit more polish. Honestly, for most of the book I was tempted to give it 2 stars--there is a lot more telling instead of showing, and the characters really felt wooden throughout a lot of it. I wasn't even sure they were as invested in their own story as I was, and I spent more time than usual while reading checking just how far I was in the book! The last third or so got better, though, and overall it left me with a more positive impression in the end than I would have thought possible given the first half. I'm willing to give the first book a try, because this one referred back to its events enough that I do want to see what exactly happened in Madeline and Ferguson's story, and of course we get just enough of a teaser here of Ellie's story in book three so that I'll probably pick that one up too, if given the chance.

Why do so many reviewers like this book? Amelia is selfish, self centered and self absorbed. It surprised me that she even had friends because she is so opinionated and controlling. I am up to page 114 of a 272 page book and she is still whining about how she doesn't want to marry Malcomb the handsome rich earl. He is the last of her many many many suitors. He was supposed to marry her best friend Pru who was poor and would wind up as either a governess or a maid if this match wasn't made. Pru never had an offer but she kept telling her she could do better. Seriously? Anyway while trying to help Pru she gets caught kissing Malcomb in the library and now has to marry him. Boo Hoo. Frankly she is so obnoxious and sharp tongued I can't imagine he doesn't want to jump on a fast boat to America. But no ---he is intent on pursuing her. Of course he doesn't realize she has a secret. She writes novels in her spare time. Imagine him thinking she would want marriage when she has a CAREER. If he only knew. I give up. I can't finish this drek. I suggest you save your money. Even a dollar was to much.

I liked the book overall. But it dragged a bit in parts, he was too overbearing with her, she was too secretive with him. Still liked how they finally came together, touching and sweet.

I enjoyed book one more. I honestly didn't think I would like a book about Amelia. Thank goodness for Malcolm being so love able. I am glad I finished it because her character does improve. Must read them in order to fully enjoy all the cross over character's. Ljb

Amelia Staunton travels to Scotland with her friend Prudence. There they meet Laird Malcolm MacCabe. It is known that Prudence will soon be Malcolm's bride, but Malcolm is much more interested in Amelia. To her absolute frustration Amelia likes him too. The situation causes all sorts of complications.Amelia is a wonderfully strong character, the kind I like reading about in regency books. I love the fact that Ms. Ramsey made her a writer, something that is secret and a complication. But a brilliant part of the story. Compared to Prudence, Amelia is overflowing with passion and charm. Malcolm is almost instantly enthralled with her. I loved watching the relationship blossom. Scotsmen Prefer Blondes is an excellent read. It really surprised me. I wasn't sure I was gonna like it, but I ended up love it. Amelia and Malcolm are great characters. Their story is sensuous and heartwarming. Historical fans will want to add this one to their list.

Another good story a strong heroine. I love it when the women stands up for her beliefs. If it was me I would spend my time in the Highlands instead of London. I have bought the rest of the series

The male lead is alpha which I love and the female lead is mostly reasonable. They are mostly honest with each other. I think that there is a book before this one that should be read first. The romance will not disappoint. Some suspense.

Amelia accompanies her friend, Prudence, to meet the man Pru's mother thinks is Pru's best chance at marriage - and infusing her financially destitue family with a fortune. Unfortunately, no sparks fly between Pru and her intended, Malclom. However, Malcolm is absolutely smitten with Amelia and is caught kissing her in his library by Pru and Amelia's brother. Amelia's brother insists that they marry, but Amelia, who secretly writes romance novels and, most recently, a scandalous put-down satire of the ton, and, in particular, a smarmy lord who tried to force her into marriage, has no desire to give up her freedom. Yet, she is just as attracted to Malcolm as he is to her, setting up her dilemna. It's fun to watch Malcolm try to woo her and fun to watch her succumb while struggling not to. Of course, she falls out with Pru, causing her guilt and pain and she is outed as the authoress of the scandalous novel. The plot, while predictable, is entertaining and fun enough to keep you engaged to the end.
