Of the hundreds of romance books I've read over the years, this the first time I've seen this particular plot starter, the heroine pretending to be old and ugly to avoid unneeded attention from her handsome and desireable boss. And as you can imagine, it doesn't work. The beginning is a little far-fetched in this story. Having worked in the medical field, the idea of getting pregnant the way Natalie could be is highly unlikely. Not impossible, but improbable. Still, it's an interesting way to get two people together and expose the double life of our heroine. The rest of the book is good. It's part of a larger series, The House of Morgan. The patriarch of the Morgan family clearly defines the idea of "can't keep it in his pants." There are more secrets in this large clan than any other family dynasty series I've read. Each is a standalone, and while reading the earlier books helps, it's not necessary. Worth checking out. Victoria Pinder has become one of my top 5 authors. She writes well, her plots are organized with no loose ends and she delivers a satisfactory HEA. SECRET DATE is no exception. This story is about Galen Morgan, one of Fiona Dupree's children, and Natalie Parker, a real estate employee in Galen's company. There is intrigue, attempted kidnapping, suspense and romance. I love the fact that this is a clean read where the bedroom scenes are left to the imagination! This author allow words to bring her characters to life: the good, the bad, and those a little bit of both. Each book in the House of Morgan series is a standalone; however, as the number of books in the series increase, I think it would be helpful to read them in order (although not necessary).
