In less than a year, her company boasts the largest and most highly skilled group of ICU, CCU, and NICU RN's and RN Nurse Practitioners in the entire Southwest Region. While the nurses in her company provide a much-needed service to Mitchell-Palmer Hospital, Hannah devotes herself to the management of her company, but even more importantly, to home-schooling her two children. However, within a year and a half from the inception of Per Diem ICU, a well-disguised conspiracy to destroy her company and pillage it for her staff, surfaces. Hannah and her sister, Sera Svilupando Stafford, an attorney in a small, family-owned law firm, stand together against three corporate empires in defense of their individual freedom. In this poignant, suspense-filled legal drama, Secrets from the Forest Floor is politically current in its examination of corporate responsibility to the public welfare, and questions the core motivation that has sculpted American capitalism in its modern format. A fitting counter-argument to Ayn Rand's, Atlas Shrugged, Secrets from the Forest Floor asks the same question, but from the middle class perspective. Who is Hannah Benfield?
Secrets from the Forest Floor is a fictional novel based upon a series of true events that occurred upon and against the Benfield family between 2001 and 2006. The character profiles of Hannah's husband (Jack), her children (Michael and Ellie), her siblings (Mike, John, and Sera), and her parents, are true portrayals from the author's perspective. The circumstances that they faced, herein stated, are accurate. However, all other characterizations, character profiles, conversations, historic backgrounds, and character-specific events depicted in this novel, emanate entirely from the imagination of the author.
