"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency.

A unique view on the human condition that eerily applies to the society we live in to this day. I highly recommend it for somebody who is willing to seriously contemplate things outside of their comfort zones...
This book was very ironically written while the author was being waited on hand and foot by a pair of maids.
