Seraphina’s Awakening was a good 4 star read. We start with Nathanael being summoned and told he had an assignment, an assignment he wasn’t happy about, Guardian to a human. When he hears her whisper something in her sleep she quickly gets his attention. We jump ahead a few months. Seraphina finds herself on a date with Jack, someone she has been crushing on, but something is off about him and strange things keep happening. Nate is still continuing to watch over Seraphina, until one night she gets hit by a car and realizes that her senses are much clearer. When she meets Nate things finally start to come together. Nate was great, he made some sacrifices for Seraphina. There is something after Seraphina, will he be able to keep her safe? There is so much more to this great read. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Seraphina and Nate were both great, they had their own strengths and Nate was hot. Sheena Hutchinson does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I can’t wait for book two in this series.

Seraphina’s Awakening is the opening to Sheena Hutchinson’s Seraphina series. Don’t ask me why I started the series with book three, I must have been dreaming or something so do not make the same mistake and do start with the first one! It did send me back to the beginning though! What else you do when you encounter a fantasy/paranormal romance that is filled with mystery and has such a vivid imagery that you can simply close your eyes and BAM, it is there, in front of you! Seraphina’s Awakening is a quick read that keeps you engaged from page one! We meet Seraphina who seems to be a normal girl in her mid-twenties living a boring life outside though inside she feels as if she is lost and something is missing in her life… she has had crazy dreams for years that feel life visions and then … one night things change and enter Nate and she steps into a supernatural world where she needs to find her way battling evil and trying to fulfil her destiny! I promise you will fall for Seraphina and Nate and all the supporting character and you will reach for the next book in the series!

Seraphina's Awakening (Seraphina #1) by Sheena Hutchinson was an okay read that was both original and unique. My first read from this author, and I'm going to be keeping an eye out. This is the first book in the Seraphina series, and so far it's looking like a good series to get behind. But, I do have some things that took me out of this story and made it hard to get back in. First things first, this book is adult but reads like a YA. The MC was all over the place, and I never did catch her age. Frankly the mentality matched adult sometimes, but then other times I felt like I was reading about an unbalanced teen. That was the main reason why I kept getting pulled out of the story. The other reason was, I felt like the main plot wasn't as clear as it should have been, and I kept feeling like I missed something. Plus there's a love triangle, and if you follow my reviews at all, you know I'm not a big fan. Other then that, I did enjoy the story. I do feel like for a set up book, it was trying to do too much, and got a little lost along the way. I do like this stories original concept, and after about the 60% mark things started to pick up. The story got a little unpredictable, and that actually worked in this reads favour. I got fully absorbed, and was finally seeing the big picture. Overall this book, as I said, is a fresh unique read. I think it just needs a little more love and care, so that first half of the book matches the last. But as I said the story itself is enjoyable, and I will be checking out the rest of this series. So please take my recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will get caught up in this tale of good vs evil. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

Seraphina’s Awakening by Sheena Hutchinson is an interesting read. I would classify this as almost sci-fi but borderline paranormal as it features an Archangel and Lucifer. The story draws you in right from the very beginning with the relationship dynamics between the characters, the best friend Anna is just like any other best friend nags you until you go along with their plans. Nathaniel the Archangel tasked with protecting Sera is a bit of a trickster and has a jealous streak. Sera is your typical girl next door but an introvert who hasn't dated in a year. This book is easy to get lost in as the story flows smoothly and quickly. I am hoping that this author produces a couple more books like this.

Seraphina’s Awakening (The Seraphina Series Book 1) by Sheena Hutchinson 4 Stars This is my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to checking out what else she has available. This is not something I would normally read but the synopsis had me intrigued so I gave it a shot. The writing is fantastic, it flowed perfectly, and the storyline was very creative. Sera was a great character, and what was happening to her I thought was written very well. I absolutely loved Amanda, she is that kind of best friend everyone wants. I was somewhat confused as to what was going on for a good part of the book, but in saying that, this story still read very nicely. It seemed Nate was going to be a big part of the book but then unless I just missed something he seemed to disappear and returned then towards the last half. I did although thoroughly enjoy his presence during Sera and Jacks date, there was no question he was involved. I still have mixed emotions about Jack, I really liked him but still have many questions regarding the part he is playing in this story. Although this is not a genre I would normally choose, I did finally pick up on what was going on towards the end and now really have to know how this story plays out and see what the future holds for Nate, Sera, Amanda, and Jack, so I will be reading book 2 as soon as possible, although I'm seriously tempted to reread this book because I'm thinking I missed a few things along the way that would've helped me to understand it better.

Seraphina’s Awakening by Sheena Hutchinson is a deviation from my usual style of reading and I can honestly say that I am glad I took this leap of faith. This story focuses on angels, demons, religious undertones and some supernatural mystery. Hutchinson’s style of writing was a little slow, and at times I had to really push through on reading to get the book to roll for me, but once I got into the author’s rhythm the book really became very good. Seraphina’s Awakening is the first book is the Seraphina series which up to now is 4 book series with the next addition coming out soon. While this wasn’t to normal reading for me I am intrigued to pick up the rest of this series and see how it continues.

Simple supernatural mystery, with the surprise of angels and demons. Sera's life is boring - a plain bagel, left out to grow stale. She feels lost, hopeless, and confused as to what her life is supposed to mean. She's conflicted deep down about a lot of things, both about her own self, and her life as a whole. Not only that, she's hiding a secret from everyone she loves, and it's slowly taking over more and more of her life. That all changes, when she unknowingly gets assigned a Guardian Angel, sent directly to her by God himself. I hadn't expected the element of religious themes and topics, but honestly, it was amazing. The descriptions were wonderful, and the personalities given to each character, supernatural or not, were fairly realistic and fitting. The author did a wonderful job of weaving the paranormal elements into the contemporary setting of Sera's otherwise mundane life. The mystery of which guy was who was captivating, and I loved the bread crumbs laid out in each chapter, keeping me guessing. I don't tend to enjoy romantic stories involving angels and demons - the idea of falling in love with any angel, fallen or not, kind of weirds me out, and I generally don't keep reading. Still, there was something about this story that made it worth it, and I'm glad I kept reading. My only complaint for the whole book, is the fact it was rather slow. The writing, setting, and overall feel of the story was more fast-paced, but the progression of the story was almost painfully slow. While it was nice to have so much of the foundation laid early on, and so much of the backstories explained, it made the tease of getting on with the mystery a kind of frustrating I don't really enjoy. Overall though, with that being the only negative, this is still a solid four-rose book. The plot was strong, I didn't see many gaps, and the character progression and growth was phenomenal. I enjoyed the mix of darker suspense with light, up-beat humor, and the flow of the story felt natural and smooth. Definitely a series to finish, and a book I'd recommend to others. *I was given a complimentary eCopy of this book, from the author via Xpresso Book Tours, to read in exchange for an honest review. ~Rose @Desert Rose Review

Seraphina's Awakening is good, its starts off a bit slow as the story is mostly told from her POV but once it starts moving along with revealing the world she is actually living in you will want more. Seraphina's Initiation (Seraphina Series #2) comes out Feb 20 which is good cause I am hooked.

Who is Seraphina Cross? Sera is an average girl in her 20's who has finished her studies and is trying to get her career moving. She has an active "dream life" that usually involves a blue eyed stranger who keeps her safe. Jack is the owner of the coffee shop that asks her out on a date but things don't go according to plan. Nate is the angel assigned to guard her, from what though, he doesn't know. When a psychic reveals that Sera's life is about to change, she didn't quite believe it but is unnerved by the experience all the same. I found the split between the dreams and her "real" life a bit confusing, I am assuming however, that the bigger picture will be revealed in the next book. I was given this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
