Shake It Up by J. Kenner

There are a million reasons why I need to stop thinking about Taylor D'Angelo naked.

She's too young for me, for starters.

She's too ambitious.

She's my job.

Romance was the last thing on my mind when I agreed to look into her stalker as a favor.

Now, she's all I can think about--and in every position I can imagine.

But I'm not the only one obsessing, and the threats against her are intensifying along with our connection.

If I give in, if I let our bodies take over, it could draw her stalker out.

Our passion could save her.

Or it could destroy us both.

Who's Your Man of the Month?

When a group of fiercely determined friends realize their beloved hang-out is in danger of closing, they take matters into their own hands to bring back customers lost to a competing bar. Fighting fire with a heat of their own, they double down with the broad shoulders, six-pack abs, and bare chests of dozens of hot, local guys who they cajole, prod, and coerce into auditioning for a Man of the Month calendar.

But it's not just the fate of the bar that's at stake. Because as things heat up, each of the men meets his match in this sexy, flirty, and compelling binge-read romance series of twelve novels releasing every other week from New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner.

"With each novel featuring a favorite romance trope--beauty and the beast, billionaire bad boys, friends to lovers, second chance romance, secret baby, and more--this series hits the heart and soul of romance." -- New York Times bestselling author Carly Phillips

Each book is a STANDALONE romance with an HEA and an overarching story about the friends and the bar. Totally hot and utterly binge-worthy!

5 Star Review Shake It Up (Man of the Month #8) by J Kenner This is the eight book in the series and is Taylor and Landon’s story. Shake It Up is a fun quick story which was extremely well written and a great read. Every time I read the books in this series, I don’t think that it can beat the previous ones but this one has. Landon makes me swoon, not only is he a detective with a heart of gold, he is everything that I love in a hero. Taylor is in trouble, her past has finally caught up with her and now not only is she in danger but those that she has come to care for are as well. This book had it all, smoking scenes and intense heat between the characters as well as drama, suspense and intrigue. Landon has been interested in Taylor since he first saw her and the attraction is mutual. When danger rears it’s ugly head, Landon steps in to protect her. Can Landon keep Taylor safe? Or will her past finally catch up with Taylor and destroy the happiness she has found with Landon and her friends at The Fix. One click now and find out. The books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but since they are not that long and a quick and easy read I would recommend you one click them all. I am excited to see what happens in the next book; bring on Mr. September.

Another 5 Star read in The brilliant Man of the Month Series and I have to say this is for me the best so far, problem is every new release seems to be better than the last so I’m sure this won’t be the last time I say this. Book 8 is Taylor and Landon’s story and as with every book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone. Shake it Up has a lot going for it, it’s a face paced read with a lot going on to keep you on the edge of your seat and It also has a bit more mystery to it than previous books in the series. Taylor has always been the life and sole if the party at The Fix but in this book we see a much more serious side to this fun loving gal, she has a past she is desperate to hide but when the past comes back to haunt her she has no option but to open up to police officer Landon and her other friends at The Fix. Landon now has the perfect opportunity to show the girl who sets his heart beating a little bit faster that he is the one to protect and take care of her. J.Kenner is doing a brilliant job with this series and I really can’t wai for Mr September.

Shake It Up by J. Kenner is the eighth book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is the story of Landon and Taylor, the broody detective and the damsel in distress. Taylor's life is in danger. That much is clear. When Brent, her boss at The Fix, enlists the help of his detective friend, Landon, to watch over her while he is on vacation, he doesn't realize that the attraction between them will reach explosive levels. Landon tries to keep his distance from this beautiful woman, but being forced together under the circumstances doesn't allow him the distance he might ned to quell his desires. Despite his best efforts, the two of them begin to fall for one another. But danger is still looming close and it's now up to Landon to end Taylor's problems, once and for all. Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I'm excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!

I absolutely love this series. They're all fast reads, but each book covers a different story trope. In Shake it Up, J Kenner breaks away from the "friendly" romantic variations (e.g. friends to lovers, second chance, etc.) and introduces us to a little danger in this romantic suspense story between Taylor and Landon. This story focuses on Taylor, who stage manages the bi-weekly Man of the Month contests, and Landon, Austin PD detective, friend to Derek (who is Mr. July), and a semi-regular at The Fix. I love the strong friendships amongst the regulars at The Fix and the way the author has them interlinking. When one of their own is threatened, they rally around to play their part in protecting Taylor. The heat level of Taylor and Landon's relationship matches the intensity of all the other couples we've met, which means the romance sizzles! I enjoyed the suspense this story brought to the series, just to "shake it up" a bit, and liked the way it played out. The suspense doesn't drag out since this stand-alone book is relatively short, compared to Kenner's original Stark trilogy or her SIN series. If you enjoy romantic suspense, definitely dive into the world of Stark International Novel with Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin.

Oh man, I truly enjoyed this one. The series has been amazing, and every books keeps outdoing the last for me. But this one I found to be a bit more intriguing and a bit suspenseful than the rest. In the book we meet Taylor and Landon. She is trying to make a life for herself. leaving behind a past she never thought would ever find her. Landon is a cop, loves his job of protecting and catching bad men. He is put on a mission of protecting Taylor from her stocker. Both find themselves unable to stay away from each other. But who is Taylor stocker? Finding out and keeping her safe becomes Landon mission. And trusting him and feeling safe confuses Taylor. This story was super cute. every Man of the Month brings a different but enjoyable story. Im enjoying keep close to all the characters. Sometimes I find myself wanting to be inside worlds. I want to go hang out in The Fix. Kenner is one of my favorite writers, and no matter what she writes, she always gives nothing but the best.

SHAKE IT UP by J. Kenner this is book 8 in the Man of the Month series. This is the story of Landon and Taylor. I have read the previous book in this series and you can easily make this a standalone book....but you will enjoy it more if you read them in order I think. Taylor has a stalker and she thought she was in the clear with her new life but he has found her and is stalking her again. Landon works for the police force but is on a three week vacation and he is asked by his friend to help protect Taylor. Landon felt something for Taylor the fist time she ran into him...so he is all about protecting her. But she is a lot younger than him so he has put his feeling on hold until now. Taylor too has felt a connection with Landon from the start but with her past coming back can she have a future? Really enjoyed their story!!

Man of month Mr August Taylor D'Angelo has moved to escape her past or so she thought. When notes start arriving she knows her past has caught up with her. With the help of Brent The Fix's security he calls on the help of his friend Landon Ware. But the thing is Landon wants Taylor and he knows he is too old for her and she is too young but with Taylor's stalker around he knows he has to keep his head in the game and not in all the ways he would have Taylor. Taylor has seen Landon around and now he is her protector she feels a connection but she knows she is too young for Landon, does he feel the same about her? But then the threats from her stalker take a step up. So with the idea of getting the stalker to come out from the dark could the ruse they play be enough or will it lead to much more? Urgh this series of books has me wanting more, Can be read as a standalone but I say read all the books. It will be the best money you have spent.

So good! Eighth in the Man of the Month series, Taylor and Landon’s book can be read as a standalone. Fast paced, with an edge of uncertainty, this book had me guessing and excited for each page I read. The humor, emotion and sexy time were well written and had me completely drawn in. J Kenner’s has work has always left me with all the feels. She did not disappoint me with Shake It Up A fantastic read!

Things are really heating up in August, thanks to this latest release in the Man of the Month series and boy does the storyline fit the title. Taylor has a past that is coming back to haunt her and she needs help as she makes the decision to stay and stop running. Landon is the police officer who is tasked with keeping Taylor safe while he is on vacation from his duties. In order to accomplish the assignment, the two pretend to be a couple. The only problem with that is they both are highly attracted to one another. Landon has issues with Taylor’s age and there are times when he uses his former relationship with his ex-wife to rein in his feelings for her. This may not be a bad thing as Taylor is tight lipped about her past and why she believes this is happening to her. Can the two work out their differences? Can they find a way to trust each other and make a life for themselves together? The author has created wonderful characters that anyone can relate to. From the beginning, the reader cannot help but be invested in Taylor and Landon as they are so perfect for each other. The artistry that Ms. Kenner uses to bring these characters to life is unparalleled. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series and look forward to number nine! I volunteered to read an arc copy of this book.

Landon and Taylor's story is definitely a hot read with some mystery and suspense thrown in. Landon and Taylor both have painful pasts, but have both grown into fantastic adults in spite of it. The gang at The Fix are a great group and always there for each other. Landon stepping up to protect Taylor from the threats being made against her brings them closer together and they can no longer resist their sizzling attraction. Can't wait for the next book!

Landon, from what I read about him in the previous books, did not disappoint and I knew would be added as another favorite! I knew the minute Taylor was in his sights, he would go all Alpha mode stat. Since book one, you build on the relationships with each character that comes into the story. I love the comrade that the girls have for Taylor. The men do not back down with the dramatic events coming their way. As the "older man" Landon fights hard to keep his attraction at bay. But with a Babe like Taylor, I have a feeling that Landon will be a lost cause eventually lol. The drama with Taylor's past has me hooked on the story. Can Landon help Taylor over come the darkness? Not only was the character building great, but the emotions and sexiness added were at an all time high! J.K. did not disappoint with Shake It Up!!! Can I say this is another favorite added to the MOTM series lol.

I've been loving this series more and more with each new addition. And Shake It Up is not an exception. It is a romantic suspense story that will make you swoon and at the same time keep you at the end of your seat. It is a story of survival and second chances at life, a story of love and hope for the future. Landon and Taylor are two intriguing characters. Though there as different as they can be, coming from different backgrounds and separated by age, they are also perfect for each other. The chemistry between them is explosive but with a deadly past lurking around the corner, and secrets being revealed, their new and budding relationship is at stake. I am not going to reveal anything else but I am going to say that I definitely recommend this book. For that matter, I recommend all the books in the series :) So don't waste any time and pick up your copy now ;) You won't regret it.

I always love suspense with my romance and this book has it in spades! When Taylor starts receiving creepy cards and a brick is thrown through her car window, she’s afraid her mysterious past has caught up with her. Not wanting to flee a life and friends she loves, she reluctantly decides its time to ask for help. That help comes in the form of hot as sin cop Landon. Now these protective services come as no hardship to either Taylor or Landon as they’ve been fighting a mutual attraction for months. The only thing standing in their way is his thinking she’s too young for him and her fear he’ll despise her if the truth of her sordid past comes out. I really liked the element of danger & the quick pace of this book. It’s also fun having characters from previous books involved in the story.

Shake It Up by J. Kenner is Man of the Month series, Book 8. From the moment that Taylor D'Angelo and Landon Ware ran into each other, literally, there was an immediate attraction. Problem is, neither thinks they are right for the other person. Taylor is finishing up her degree and helping out with the Man of the Month contest at The Fix on Sixth but when threatening notes start to appear she is worried that she has picked up a stalker from one of her classes, or worse someone from her past come back to haunt her. When Landon finds out that Taylor is in trouble he will stop at nothing to protect her and since he is a cop, he's pretty good at that sort of thing. Once they actually talk to each other its not long before the walls that each had put up to keep thoughts of the other out of their mind breaks down and something more grows, hot and fast, between them. These characters have deep wounds from their history but once they taste each other they know it's different and worth fighting for. I liked how while each had valid self doubts it was not something that was dragged out or forced to be something that divided them. Learning more about Landon and Taylor's characters after seeing them in other books was nice and at this point the cast of characters that has been built in this series is vast, diverse, fun and romantic. Overall I like all the books that J. Kenner has written in this series and Shake It Up was a very nice addition. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

Landon and Taylor’s story reads like a romantic mystery suspense. We finally learn the truth about Taylor and why she’s skittish in all the previous books. Landon must overcome hang-ups from his past to try to move forward with a new romance. Their stories are similar, but can they overcome their pasts to move forward with their future?

"Have I mentioned I love you?" "I think I heard something along those lines. But feel free to repeat it as often as you want." Eight down, Four to go!! Each month brings a new, sexy man. How awesome is that? I love this series. The story line is great, the characters are lovable, and the chemistry is off the chart! Taylor D'Angelo finally feels like she's found a home. One where she's safe. One where her past can't find her. Or has it? Creepy notes, photos that indicate she's being watched, vandalism to her car - it all points to her biggest fear. He's found her. Turning to Brent for help, he enlists the skills of Austin PD detective Landon Ware to protect her until this is all over. Oh, Lord. She's lusted after him from afar, and now he's going to be at her side. Will he be able to find her stalker before her stalker finds her? If she tells him the whole truth about her past, will she lose any chance she has with him? Landon Ware is one of Austin's finest. He's been drawn to Taylor since he first saw her. And now she's in danger and needs someone to keep her safe until her stalker is found. Landon will find this guy and make sure he never gets near Taylor. Ever. Listening to Taylor's story, he knows she's keeping secrets - holding something back. How can he protect her if he doesn't know the full story. His mission is to get her to trust him - with her past and with her heart. But, will he be able to get to her in time when her past comes for her? Landon has just found her. He won't lose her now. The books in this series are packed with chemistry, great couples, and of course lots of steamy times! They're easy reads but once you read one, you will have to read them all!! I would highly recommend these!!

Alright, I feel like we’re getting back on track with this series. I felt like Book 7, In Your Eyes, was lacking and I think it might have been due to the timespan of the book and its short length. Whereas the last book took place over a year, this book takes place over a couple weeks. Taylor’s got a stalker and Detective Landon Ware steps in as a “favor”. While Landon is older than Taylor this is hardly May-December romance. While there is chemistry between the two, the sexy times aren’t very steamy, hence the four star rating. The development of their relationship lacked some building blocks due to the short time frame. These two don’t have that “tear apart” moment I’ve mentioned before, but they both come with their respective baggage. If you’ve been reading the series, you’re most likely invested in Reece, Cam, Nolan, Tyree, Parker, Easton, Griffin, and Brent. Spencer’s story was part of the building blocks of the series. Derek and Landon, (and mostly likely Matthew) are just the wild cards, the hotties for ladies we’ve become invested in from the previous books. Their stories aren’t meant to be game changers to the series, just some filling to progress the story line.

We’re now into the eighth book in the ‘Man of the Month’ series and I have to admit, I think Ms. Kenner may have ran out of steam a little bit. This story didn’t pull me in quite as well as the previous books. The characters, while well written just didn’t appeal to me. Yes, the story was fast paced and fairly suspenseful with the stalker storyline but it just felt kinda flat all the same. Taylor may have seemed like a fun time girl, but she has some hidden and dark elements to her past that have returned and put her in danger. She needs help, which her friends at the bar, the Fix on Sixth offer. It comes in the form of detective Landon, a man she’s been secretly lusting after for a while. Landon has had some not so ‘friend like’ feelings of his own about Taylor and is more than happy to show her while protecting her at the same time. Can he save the damsel in distress or with the bad guy get the girl? Grab your copy and find out in Shake It Up.

Shake It Up – that’s exactly what J. Kenner does with the 8th installment of her Man of the Month series because Landon and Taylor’s story is romantic suspense unlike the previous books, but readers need not worry about anything else being ‘shook up’ because Kenner still gives her readers a quick and dirty read and definitely leaves them satisfied;) Mr. August is a police officer turned body guard who volunteers to protect a woman who he has been attracted to since the first time they met, which means this may be the best thing for him or the worst, considering he’s supposed to ‘guard’ her body not give into the desire to own her body and soul. Readers can guess how well Landon fights his attraction to Taylor while they’re constantly in close proximity to each other, but even though he does cross the line, it’s clear that Landon and Taylor share an intense connection that they both want to explore, so even though she’s eleven years younger than him and is being stalked by an extremely dangerous man from her past, they can’t get enough of one another Readers familiar with the Man of the Month series will already have some knowledge of who Taylor is, but it’s not until Shake It Up that we learn about her past and the bad things that were supposed to be behind her. I definitely think that because Taylor is a familiar face that her and Landon’s story will have readers even more invested in the plot line and Taylor’s safety and the added suspense and the anticipation of the stalker striking also will keep readers’ interest and have them anxiously turning the pages to find out what happens with both Landon and Taylor’s relationship as well as the outcome of a very dangerous situation. 8 men have been selected for the calendar to help raise money for The Fix, which means we’re down 4, and I, for one, can’t wait to see who graces the other months of the year and who J. Kenner puts in these men’s path to shake up their lives as well as their hearts. 4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Whew! This book was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat! I knew it would be a HEA, but the threat behind Taylor was enough to make me nervous! I was lost in Landon and Taylor's story! I enjoyed how life brought them together and their chemistry was combustible! I enjoyed the way the reader (and Landon) are slowly clued into what happened in Taylor's past. I liked how Landon wanted to protect her and the safety he offered her. I enjoyed how Taylor let herself trust Landon and fall for him. All-around enjoyable read!
