5 star Review Shutdown Player: Seattle Sockeyes Hockey (Game On In Seattle #10) by Jami Davenport This is book 10 in the series and another winner for Jami Davenport in my humble opinion. This is the story of Jared Roderick and Stephanie (Steph) Clarke. This book had me hooked from the very first page. I absolutely loved Jared and Steph, two people hurt by their pasts yet equally determined to move on. Whilst Jared is looking for love, Steph is bound and determined to ignore the sizzling chemistry between them. All Jared wants is to find a woman who is the total opposite of his cheating ex wife. In Steph he believes he has finally found her. Jared doesn’t count on the walls that Steph puts up to protect herself. It’s time for her to live the life she wants and deserves, away from her controlling father and her abusive ex boyfriend. From the start of Shutdown Player I wanted these two to get together and remain that way. Can they each work through the troubles of their pasts and in doing so find a love that is strong enough to survive? The chemistry between Jared and Steph is scorching and this was one of those books that I simply didn’t want to put down. I love that Ms.Davenport’s characters are not perfect, they are flawed and the situations they find themselves in are easy to relate too, her characters are strong and her stories well written. Although it is book 10 in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.

Can a series get any better when you hit book 10 well Jami Davenport has done just that, in my opinion this is the best book so far in the Game On in Seattle Series, I could not put Steph and Roderick’s story down and if you love Hockey and sports romance this is a must read. Jared Roderick has been through the ringer, he has seen the worst side of marriage when he finds out his ex wife basically married him for money and status. Stephanie Clarke was raised in strong church going family and in her teenage years she rebelled and fell in love with the worst person for her, he treated her so badly, he pimped her out as a lap dancer and he hurt her in the worst possible way with his fists. Can two people who should be scared off relationships for good make it work this time around, can they get over the fears of history repeating itself........ This author gave us two people who are kind and trusting yet broken from the past and she took us on their journey of learning to trust and love again. jami Davenport has fast become one of my go to authors and for me this is one of the best hockey series out there. Looking forward to more from the Seattle Sockeyes.

With the next book in the Seattle Sockeyes hockey series, we get Jared & Steph's story. We're familiar with them both from previously in the series, so the story flows well even from the start of the book. We get to see check in on some of our favorite previous characters along the way and watch Jared & Steph finagle their way through difficulties from their past still haunting them and seeing if they can overcome it all to be the support each other needs to move forward in a relationship. It wasn't my favorite in the series, but I enjoyed it and it was a solid read! Jared "Hot Rod" Roderick might still be feeling the pain from his recently ended marriage to a cheating gold-digger, but he's not one to serial date or remain single for long. He loves being half of a relationship, so he's setting his sights on finding the woman of his dreams. A sweet and loyal good girl ... and he thinks he's just met her! Stephanie Clarke is doing whatever it takes to make ends meet while she picks up the pieces of her stomped on life. She recently got away from an abusive boyfriend and wants to turn her life around to be more of the person she truly wants to be instead of the things he coerced her into becoming. She's far from the innocent angel that Jared is looking for, but he's such a nice guy that she figures what can it hurt if he doesn't know her past for just a little while.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is Jared "The Rod" Roderick's story after he gets rid of his nightmare ex, Candy. Rod has always liked being in a relationship so when he is single again he asks a matchmaker to make him a match. Meanwhile Steph is now working for the match makers and that is how her and Rod end up getting to know each other. But Steph might look like a good girls, she has a dark past and she is afraid of what Rod will think and she is afraid her ex will come and hurt her. The two start out as friends as they get to know the other and this was a perfect way for these two to get to know the other and fall in love. I loved how protective and sweet Jared is with Steph and I loved seeing the WAGS help Steph and protect her. Cooper/Izzy/Riley and Vi and Matt are heavily featured in this story and are there very much so for Steph and Jared. This was a well written and very enjoyable story with some suspense and drama with Steph's ex. My heart broke a little for Steph and I totally loved the ending.

I love that we finally got Jared's story but hate to see everything that Candy did to him even though he tried to have "forever" with her. I do hate that he was so gullible with her and didn't protect himself. My heart hurt for Stephanie because she was so sheltered that she didn't know that Gino was such a douche and it made her not trust anyone really. Jared and Stephanie were destined to be together two people that were used by their exes and each traumatized in their own way because of that "abuse". They both fell hard and fast for each other as people fated to be together will do but there was also that part of them that didn't trust each other enough to share everything. Agnes and Lola were an awesome addition to the series! Another great book in the Sockeyes series. I cannot wait for the next one! I was provided an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

I have been following this series and always become attached Jami's words. The Game On in Seattle series have become an addiction that I am proud to tell my book friends about. Jared's story was heartbreaking and fulfilling for me. You don't get a lot of stories where the hero gets burned by a woman and it was not a mistake. His ex-wife was just a gold digger and playing him for a fool. I adored our shy Stephanie. She is ready to finally step out in the world and better herself. She works tirelessly and when she meets Jared, it was nothing but sparks shooting off. I could not put this book down. The drama factor was high and I was not sure if these two could make it with all their ghosts from the past. You definitely want to read this book to see how it all ends.

Yay! The Sockeyes are back! This time we get Jared"Hot Rod" Roderick's story and poor guy is not having an easy time of things financially or emotionally during the aftermath of his divorce from his gold digging ex wife. Especially financially, she is bleeding him dry. Jared has not hardened his heart to finding love again though, in fact he craves that. He wants it more than anything. At the recommendation of a teammate he turns to Agnes & Iona, two quirky and amazing matchmaking sisters. He meets Stephanie Clark there when he goes for his interview. Stephanie has been through absolute hell with her ex and is just trying to move on with her life since getting away from him but she is emotionally rattled. She and Jared decide to be friends and we all know how that story goes especially when there is crazy attraction. I just adore them! You know from moment one they are meant to be together, but can they get through their current struggles and find a real HEA together? Will they finally tell each other everything? You will find yourself wishing nothing but happiness for them as you see them each face the things that threaten to tear them apart, head on, but together, and with the help of friends and teammates. So sweet!!

Jami Davenport lights the lamp with SHUTDOWN PLAYER, the tenth book in the Game On Seattle series. After a failed marriage to a stereotypical puck bunny, Jared Roderick is ready to settle down with a nice girl. He thinks he finds the woman of his dreams when he meets, Stephanie Clarke. However, Steph has some secretes and a former boyfriend who is not willing to let her go. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. We first meet Steph in book 9, PENALTY PLAY. Steph used to work with Vi. She was in an abusive relationship with Gino. It’s terrible what he put her through, the guy doesn’t know when to give up. I love that she is embraced by the Sockeye family. It’s great that Izzy hired her at Party Crashers. I like how she meets Jared through her second job with Agnes. Both Jared and Stephanie understandably have issues because of their previous relationships. Candy and Gino really pulled a number on them. As a result, they are both keeping secrets from each other, which winds up causing issues. Steph and Jared make a cute couple. I love that they both read hockey romances. I also, like their favorite authors, add in Jami Davenport of course. The plot was believable and heartfelt. I appreciated how the characters developed throughout the story. The epilogue was a perfect conclusion to the story. I enjoy Jami Davenport’s writing style. It flows well and is easy to envision. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

We are back in the world of the Seattle Sockeyes, which is always a great place to be! Jared "Hot Rod" Roderick has had a rough time lately. He's gone through a rough divorce and his now ex-wife has put him on the brink of financial ruin. He knows he has a couple of years before he can get back on his feet and so his focus is on hockey, yet he really wants to find that person that is meant for him. He's a relationship guy and while he learned his lesson with his ex, it makes him no less anxious to find his true soulmate. Stephanie Clarke is trying to put her rough past behind her. She has finally escaped the horror that was a long-time abusive relationship and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. She helps with the party crashing business, but she has also taken on a new role with the crazy aunts of Cooper Black's that have their own matchmaking business. The only problem is, she just has this feeling that her past isn't done coming for her. When Jared enlists the help of Agnes and Iona and their matchmaking skills, he ends up working with Steph as she helps to get him set up in their system. Because of a couple of times where Jared's dates don't show, he and Steph spend more time together. While they are clearly attracted to one another, Steph can't get involved with him because he's a client and she gave her word. Will these two be able to resist their feelings? Or are there other things at work here? I enjoyed this book immensely and while there are some delicate subjects that are touched upon, I felt like Jami did a great job in handling them. Another really solid offering in this series. I can't wait to see what is coming next!

Jared lost just about everything when he went through his divorce. He’s spent his life quietly since, but keeps his eye out for a good woman who would want him just for the man he is, not the fact that he is a hockey player. His team mates suggest a matchmaker, and he figures why not. Steph has had a difficult life and a relationship that tore her apart. She’s trying to move on and takes a job with Agnes and Iona to make extra money. Her job in tails being nice to gentlemen, smiling, chatting, making them feel comfortable, but no fraternizing....she had no idea her services would be needed by a gorgeous hunk of a man who was kind, polite and his presence alone had her burning up for him and she could do nothing about it. What plan do matchmakers Agnes and Iona have for Jared and Steph? Is it a match or will they fail? There’s fun, emotion and suspense in Shutdown Player, an entertaining book, there’s also a nice revisit with previous characters, always a great addition to a story.

Jami Davenport makes it hard to sit on the sidelines and not root her characters on. The blinders come off and the celebrity becomes human. Shutdown Player is the journey of two good people, who have suffered a bad break. A blow to the heart is not easy to bounce back from, especially when hateful words and violent episodes are part of the equation. Steph knows that first hand. As she rebuilds her life, she struggles to keep her heart intact. Jared is putting that resolve in danger. When it comes to love, will pride or trust win?
