About the Author

Ron Ragan was born and started out in Hamtramck, Michigan, son of Serbian and Irish parents. His father was born in Vanleer, Tennessee. His mother grew up in Coral, Pennsylvania and Hamtramck, Michigan.

Ron attended Thomas M. Cooley high school, Lawrence Institute of Technology, Henry Ford Community College and Wayne State University. Ron served in the United States Army. He competed and was named “Soldier of the Month”, while serving in the far East (Korea). Later he earned a commercial pilot license with instruments and multi-engine rating.

Ron’s employment background in engineering activities ranges from General Electric-Carboloy (Advanced manufacturing engineering in industrial diamonds and carbides), Chrysler Corporation (Cast metal and failure analysis), Ford Motor Company (Engine engineering/Powertrain).

Ron’s interests outside work included classic cars, motorcycles, boats and planes. Also an avid fitness buff; working out alongside legendary weightlifter Norbert Schemansky (set 26 world records). Also, wrestler Richard Garza (“Mighty Igor”), Rick “Crusher” Cortez and Ben Justice (Jerry May). Ron was recruited by touring canvassers and auditioned as a possible fill-in for the televised “Jack LaLanne fitness show.”
