Simon the Bat

With her egg basket in hand, Ava skipped to the barn. She greeted and fed all the animals. She only wanted to check on Simon, say hello as she did every day. She climbed the ladder to the loft. Simon was hovering in the corner. His wings opened and spread. “Simon, are you all right?” asked Ava. He closed his wings as he inched his way to her then suddenly turned back. Ava looked to the corner. There, a litter of pups cuddled together. “Oh my, Simon! You’re a girl! I’m not saying a word!”
