Smolder is a name that matches this story in more ways than one. It is not only because of the setting of smokejumpers in a small town but also because the romance between Captain Sam Gaskill and Laurel Keenan burns through the pages. As a former Army Ranger, Sam had a successful career but now he wanted a new life. One that did not include staying in Texas or his having late wife’s horse. He figured becoming the Captain of the Smoke jumpers in Glacier Creek and selling the horse would do just that. He had great people to work with and new career, the horse would be boarded and sold at a local ranch. So falling in love was the farthest thing from his mind especially after he had hurt his late wife badly not just by being gone constantly but the risks that came with being in the military. Those wishes seem to go by the wayside when he met Laurel, the ranch owner’s daughter, for when she was around he felt weak in the knees and realized maybe, just maybe magic between two people was possible. Growing up Laurel Keenan had dreams of leaving town and being successful in whatever she did. All those came to a crashing end when she got pregnant by a high-risk taker boyfriend and her mother got sick. So instead she had to concentrate on helping with the ranch, raising her son and being a good daughter aka boring life. She did not want to risk falling in love or taking a chance at anything again ever. So falling in love was the farthest thing from her mind, especially with a smokejumper because that would mean taking not just one risk but two. But the magic between them made her start rethinking her ways and realizing sometimes you need to take a chance. One more time Tracy Solheim has wowed us with a romance that hits home in every way possible. Her words are so believable that it possible that if you close your eyes for a moment you can see everything laid out before you perfectly. The smiles, the love, the horses, the child being happy and the list continues... IF you have a chance then definitely READ THIS BOOK!!

In this kick off to the new Firefighters of Montana series, Tracy Solheim introduces us to the team of sexy smoke jumpers, and takes us into the world of the new captain of the squad, Sam Gaskill. She delivers great characters with lots of sweetness & sass, along with some sexy heat. Really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the rest! Former Army Ranger Sam Gaskill is relocating to Glacier Creek, Montana to start a new job as the captain to a team of smoke-jumpers. He's glad to get away from Texas and it's memories of his late wife. Laurel Keenan couldn't wait to leave Glacier Creek and explore the excitement the rest of the world had to hold, but a surprise pregnancy along with an ailing Mother brought her back home within a short time. Sam and Laurel are drawn to each other the minute they set eyes on each other, but they both have their issues and try to steer clear. He thinks he failed one woman already and doesn't want to trust his heart to another. She thinks she has to be secure and stable and can't risk her son's future to a risk-taking lifestyle. Resistance doesn't last for long, and they are soon enjoying each other's company ... but will they ever be able to trust enough to have any type of future together?

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. We have Sam and Laurel, to very stubborn people, who are attracted to each other and not sure if they are willing to put their hearts on the line again. I always love stories of firefighters, and military men, so right there it had one me over, I loved the rest of the guys, it was cute story, and kept me fairly interest, new series, hopefully will keep my interest, enjoy.

This is book one in The Firefighters of Montana series and it features Laurel Keenan and Sam Gaskill. The attraction between these two was incredibly strong from the moment they met. I love these two! Laurel has no brain-to-mouth filter and Sam is the brooding, sexy Captain. They both have their reasons to keep it casual but things don't always work out that way. Laurel's son Tyson is a little cutie. I really liked that his father was involved and he wasn't a total failure as a part-time father. Fantastic story in an equally fantastic series. I can't wait to read the next book!

The thrill of danger helps him forget the pain of loss. Can the love of a good woman help him learn to live again? Sam is a man on a mission. Start over and leave the past behind. A new town and an adventurous job should be just what he needs to escape the helpless guilt and grief that has been his constant companion. What he doesn't count on is finding a second chance at love. Smolder is as intense as it's title, but the beauty of Ms. Solheim is she can deliver breathless romance while crafting a heart-stopping thrill.

First book in the Firefighters of Montana series where the reader is introduced to Sam, a smoke jumper and Laurel, a dreamer who returned to the family ranch. These two must find trust and love together in midst of their jobs and responsibility. Thoroughly enjoyed this story and characters. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Smolder by Tracy Solheim Firefighters of Montana #1 Smolder indeed! Great book! I enjoyed it from beginning to end and recommend it to those looking for a fun way to spend a few hours in Montana. After looking online I found that five authors have worked together to create this series of books that deal with sizzling hot men who work as smokejumpers but also as search and rescue patrol and live in a base camp on forest service land in Montana. Each of the potential men and women who will star in their own romance novels is introduced in this first book and I have to say I am intrigued by more than one of the characters and eager to read their stories if they are even half as good as this one! So, in this book…Captain Sam Gaskill has been hired to be in charge of the team of firefighters and has recently moved to town. He has brought his deceased wife’s horse to be stabled and trained at the Keenan ranch. He meets Laurel Keenan and her son Tyler almost immediately and there is a strong pull between the two of them. With both being rather impulsive it doesn’t take much time for them to heat up the sheets BUT with both also being leery of commitment there are some things for the two of them to work through if they are to have a HEA. Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Smolder is the first book in the Firefighters of Montana series written by Tracy Solheim. While trying to come to terms with the sudden death of his wife, Sam Gaskill moves to Flathead Lake, Montana to head up the local Forest Service as captain and smokejumper. Sam takes with him his wife’s palomino horse, Tabitha, housing her with Wayne Keenan at the nearby Whispering Breeze Ranch. As the previous captain of the forest service, Russ Edwards, had died in the line of duty, Sam finds himself wrangling with hostilities from his crew as they don’t take kindly to outsiders. An even bigger challenge comes in the form of Wayne Keenan’s daughter, Laurel, who’d left the wrong kind of first impression on Sam when he had first boarded Tabitha at the ranch. Although Sam and Laurel had gotten off on the wrong foot, they find it hard to suppress the deep and mysterious attraction they feel for each other. As they slowly let each other through the walls they had built around themselves over the years, they not only empathize with each other’s past tragedies, but realize that those tragedies may be what is keeping them from ever possibly having a future together. Tracy Solheim’s story about two people from vastly different backgrounds, yet having an undeniable attraction to each other, has just the right amount of drama, action, love, lust, tragedy and suspense to create an epic romance which will leave you burning for more. Smolder is quite realistic in that each character has a depth which allowed me to connect and empathize with each and every one. The tight-knit community in the small town and the camaraderie amongst the firefighting crew was spot-on. Having had an upbringing where everyone knew everybody else’s business in such a small town, I became quite nostalgic in parts, even when the crew was cleaning up the forest, getting ready for fire season. The description of the terrain was remarkable and I was able to visualize myself walking in their shoes. I very much enjoyed Smolder and recommend it to all lovers of fine romance reading.

Sam Gaskill is a former Army Ranger who is starting over after loosing his wife. Laurel Keenan is a single mom to a young boy. The two meet as Sam is dropping his late wife's horse off at The Whispering Breeze Ranch for training. I really enjoyed this book. It held my interest from start to finish and was just a happy story. I'm really looking forward to continuing the series.

Smoldering by Tracy Solheim....What a way to start a new wonderful series. Sam lost his wife and afraid to break is heart again and Laurel has a child to think of along with her heart. This story is so emotional and sizzling hot chemistry, it will burn the pages up. Tracy know how to write a story that you can not put down. Make sure you read this on and all the books in this series. I was given a complimentary book by publisher for an honest review.

Sam Gaskill and his horse Tabitha are a long way from Texas. As the new captain at the Glacier Creek forest service station, he has decided to place the care of his horse in the hands of Wayne Keenan at the Whispering Breeze ranch. Laurel Keenan is Wayne’s daughter and happens to live in the loft above the barn with her son Tyson. One look at Sam and she can’t seem to control her impulsiveness nor the attraction she has to him. It isn’t long before Laurel and Sam are more than just friends. However, Sam doesn’t seem to want to give Laurel his heart and she has a hard time getting past the idea of him fighting fires and jumping out of planes. When a fire threatens the ranch and Tyson turns up missing, can Sam save Tyson as well as finally let himself love again? I absolutely loved this book! I enjoyed the characters as well as learning a bit about smokejumpers. It was a great start to a new series and I cannot wait to read the remaining books.

A great introduction to a new Tule series based in Montana and centered on Smoke Jumpers. Sam Gaskill comes to Montana hoping for a fresh start after losing his wife. The added benefit is a renowned horse trainer close by, giving Sam a chance to fulfill his wife's dream for her horse. Laurel Keenan had big dreams for her life, getting of the ranch and out of town. An unplanned pregnancy and her mother's illness change her plans. Putting aside her dreams, she is determined to curb her impulsiveness and provide a good life for her son and that life plan doesn't include someone in a dangerous job. When she is called on to get Sam's horse into shape for competition, her impulsive nature comes to the forefront from the start. The more they are together, the more they connect. The big question is whether they can overcome their individual pasts and take a chance on a future together. These two characters were so much fun from the beginning. The attraction is instant and they don't do much to deny it, just the thought of an actual relationship. What made this story even better is that we got to know both characters and their lives outside their interactions. Laurel's life and family and Sam's work and interactions with his crew added to the depth of the story. The characters and story are well-developed and the pace kept me glued to the book. *I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Sam leaves his home in Texas to take over as captain of a smoke jumper squad. He couldn't stand the pity from everyone he knew in Texas after his wife died. He needed to start over. One of the first people he meets is a smart-mouth woman that gets his attention. Laurel is trying to curb her impulsive tendencies, but it is hard to do that around Sam. She has a young son to look out for and she doesn't need another adrenaline junky in her life. But Sam and his dead wife's horse wormed their way into her heart and she isn't sure she take worrying about Sam every time there is a fire. But he isn't ready to give up his job and she will have to accept him job and all or they won't stand a chance.

Adventure, passion, forgiveness, and so much more make this an excellent read. I loved the characters and the supporting characters. "Smolder" by Tracy Solheim is book one in the "Firefighters of Montana" series. This is former Army Ranger, Sam Gaskill and Laurel Keenan, champion horsewoman's story. Sam moved from Texas to Montana so he could start his life over after losing his wife to a tragic accident. He accepted the job of captain of Glacier Creek's forest service station. Laurel, single mom, has put all her dreams to the side to raise her son. Her son's father is a famous snowboarder training for the Olympics. He doesn't give much help in raising their son. Laurel is training Sam's late wife's horse for the American Quarter Horse Championship. When they meet there is a strong attraction between them. But neither one feels that they are in a good place for a relationship. Will they be able to ignore the attraction between? I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishing for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content. Author, Tracy Solheim, gets your attention right from the start and keeps it. What a great start to the "Firefighters of Montana" series. A well written, and fun and entertaining read! Looking forward to the next books in this series.

Smolder (Firefighters of Montana Book 1) by Tracy Solheim is part of a four book series from Tracy and four other Authors with Tule Publishing. You get to meet the Smokejumpers at Glacier Creek Station in Tracy’s story. Sam Gaskill, former Army Ranger and a Texas boy, has come to Montana to start a new life. He is hoping being captain of this station will still provide the adrenaline rush he still needs. Laurel Keenan, single Mom, is trying to change her impulsive desires. Then she meets “Captain Cowboy” aka Sam and all the work may be undone. Early on Laurel explains to Sam “I have a little problem with impulsive behavior. But I’m working on it.” Tracy Solheim has done it again, by writing a first chapter that has you completely hooked before the end. The secondary characters are just as interesting and enticing as Sam and Laurel. The crew is made up of both genders and I really liked them. I think you will enjoy this interesting series with this mix of Authors. I was given Tracy’s book for this series. I look forward to the other four stories in Firefighters of Montana series. Give they a try, I think you will love Tracy Solheim’s Smolder as much as I did. Thanks Tracy Solheim & Good Writing

Sam left Texas to start over after the death of his wife. Will life in Montana give him a second chance? Laurel is a single mother raising her son by herself. She's dedicated to Tyson. He will always be surrounded by love. When Sam meets Laurel, it's a battle of wills. The attraction is there but so is the fear of commitment. Can anything come of their relationship? Both characters are struggling with their past. I understood their emotional dilemma. It's hard to move forward. Sam's marriage ended tragically and he's afraid to take a chance on love. Laurel was impulsive and ended up pregnant and unwed. Her ex is marginally involved in parenting his son. She doesn't want to risk her heart on a man who courts danger as a firefighter. She doesn't want to be alone again. I wanted to tell these two to live life to the fullest and take a chance. Tracy Solheim has written a heartwarming story of second chances. The characters are likeable, the dialogue is sassy and the romance passionate. This is a great start to the Firefighters of Montana series.

Sam's love of adventure, Laurel's impulsive nature and a sizzling chemistry heat up the pages. Smolder is a great start to the Firefighters of Montana series. The smoke jumpers of Glacier Creek, Montana are scorching hot. Sam Gaskill is a highly skilled ex-soldier and smoke jumper. He relocates to Montana to start a new life and is definitely not looking to fall in love. Laurel Keenan is a single mom working hard to support her family and finish getting her degree. When Laurel's father arranges to work with Sam's late wife's horse it throws the two of them together and sparks begin to fly. Smolder is a story of new beginnings and the kind of love we all search for and if we are lucky, find. It was a beautiful story and I can't wait for the rest of this series. Smolder is the first book in The Firefighters of Montana series. I highly recommend reading this story, you won't be disappointed.

Scorching hot, sexy smoke jumpers will light a fire inside you once you meet Captain Sam and his crew. While Sam is boarding his late-wife's horse Tabitha he meets Laurel, who is going to train her. Laurel is knocked off her butt when she spies Sam and all his male splendor! Flames spark and smolder between these two as they try to deny the attraction that has been ignited. A great start to a smoking hot new series. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

In Smolder by Tracy Solheim Sam, a former Army Ranger has left most of his past behind to move to Glacier Creek Montana. There he is the new captain of smoke jumpers. Lauren's life changed with an unplanned pregnancy and her mother becoming ill. Her dreams might have been a bit different than the life path she is on now, but she is back in Glacier Creek on the family ranch making the best of it. Lauren and Sam are brought together by a horse, but neither is looking for another relationship. Neither of them expected the sizzling attraction between them. As life goes on in Glacier Creek, the slow burn between them heats up...but is love worth all the perceived risks? I really enjoyed Smolder and Sam and Lauren's story. I liked that neither of them were really bitter about their past relationships, they just weren't ready for another one. I liked the way Tracy brings them together. The ups and downs, the push and pull between them was believable and they felt like real people. The dangers of Sam's job added a rush of adrenaline, then watching Lauren take back part of what she loves felt good to read about. Sam and Lauren are strong main characters who develop well in Smolder, and grow so much. Their backgrounds and present life are all well presented in Smolder and the flow is great! Lauren's son is a sweet secondary character filled with dreams of his own...which include his father. I liked how Lauren dealt with this, and even her live life on the edge ex was a well played character who I liked! Smolder is a fast paced novella that fits a lot into it without being overwhelming. It couldn't have been better! I'd recommend Smolder to any romance reader looking for a great read with lots of heat to escape into! I received a free copy for an honest review.

An exciting love story. Laurel Keenan, a single mom who put her dream of being an artist aside to study for a more stable career so she could raise her son without any financial worries. She has enough to worry about with Tyson's father being a professional snowboarder training to participate at the Olympics. She refuses to ever get involved with another man who had a dangerous profession. Sam Gaskill is a former soldier who lost his wife in a tragic accident. He just wants to start his life over again in Montana where no one knows him. He has accepted the position as the new captain of Glacier Creek’s forest service station. He has also brought his late wife's horse Tabitha to board and train for the American Quarter Horse Championship at Whispering Breeze Ranch, Laurel's parent's ranch. When Laurel and Sam first meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. They soon have a quick fling, but then Laurel backs off as she is afraid of losing Sam because of his job. Even though Laurel knows she should get Sam out of her head, she has a hard time doing so. Sam wants more from Laurel, but she is refusing to give it to him. What will it take for Sam to get Laurel to let go of her fears and give them a chance at love? This is one of those stories where you just don't want to put the book down because you just need to know what happens next. It is filled with excitement, passion and great chemistry between the characters.

Excellent book! Can't wait for more of these hot smoke jumpers. Sam Gaskill arrives in Glacier Creek, Montana to not only restart his life somewhere new but to take over command of a squad of dedicated smoke jumpers who recently lost their Captain. Stepping into the role will be challenging but it's a much needed challenge as he works to put the loss of his wife behind him and start fresh. He is in no way ready to meet the very tempting Laurel Keenan. Nope, can't do it. He failed one woman and can risk it again. Sometimes though what you need is the exact thing you think you can't have and Laurel and her young son Tyson is exactly what Sam needs to start living again. I highly recommend this one.

Smolder by Tracy Solheim is the first book in the Firefighter of Montana series. Sam Gaskill is a former Army Ranger who is starting over in Glacier Creek, Montana, far from Texas and the memories of his late wife. Sam does bring her horse along to board at a nearby ranch. He has become the new captain of a squad of smoke jumpers which will fuel his need for adrenaline. He is hopeful that all of these changes will chase away the ghosts from his past. Laurel Keenan was a champion horsewoman who couldn’t wait to leave her hometown. Instead, an unplanned pregnancy and knowledge that her mother is ill brings her back to her parents’ ranch. Laurel gave up her studies and dream to become an artist to lead a quiet life with her young son. Laurel runs into Sam shortly after his horse is delivered to her dad’s ranch. This meeting sets off an attraction between these two and their chemistry sizzles. Sam believes he failed one woman and is not ready to seek another. Laurel guards her heart, needing to put her son first, and unsure she is ready for a relation. This was a fun and entertaining story with likeable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down because Tracy Solheim is a wonderful story teller. I highly recommend this book to other readers. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
