Consultant and speaker Williams proposes potential methods to help lead humankind out of the ongoing climate crisis in this self-help book.

Drawing on the concepts of soul and soil, the author presents a book that urges readers early on to ponder the choices that humanity has made: “We have allowed agriculture to become industry,” he writes “We have allowed drinking water to become industry. We have allowed energy to become industry. The basic needs of human existence are commodities now bought and sold.” As a result, he points out, “Our current industrial agriculture system disrupts the planet’s epidermal layer, the topsoil.” To get out of this mess, Williams asserts, humans need to go back to a more natural way of life, and to accomplish this, he encourages readers to tap into “our unique genius, the worldly service that only we can offer,” using intuition to help determine the correct course. The writing relies heavily on vivid similes: “Emotions flit about like a butterfly moving from flower to flower, and the mind swings back and forth like a monkey in a tree.” Chapter headings include “Mindfulness,” “Energy Arts,” “The Four Building Blocks of Physical Health,” and “Learn Your Nature,” and he draws on his own experience in meditation and martial arts to clarify these concepts. Williams has chosen a timely and relevant topic for this self-help work. However, it may not be compelling enough to inspire deep change, as the author seems to acknowledge in an appendix, in which he writes that the book contains “useful theory and concepts, but [is] sometimes lacking in direct application.” He goes on to recommend AWAKEN Your Life’s Core Purpose Guidebook, another of his books; however, one may wish that the author had added exercises, journal prompts, and guided meditations to this work to give readers a deeper experience.
