The book Soldier Boys is about two boys that are involved in World War II. Dean Hughes wrote this book. The book has two main character that are from opposite forces. One of the boys is a leader for Hitlers Youth. The other is a high school drop out who decides to join American Paratroopers. In this story it flips back and forth on the perspectives of the two boys throughout chapter. at first i didn't like the change in views because it was hard to fallow but after a while I got used to it. This book has lots of description on what the war was like for the two boys and their families. The boys learn that the war is not all fun and games. It is life and death. The German boy named Dieter watches one of the kids group get murdered because he tried to run away from the camp. After seeing this it made Dieter have a different perspective on the war. The American boy named Spence describes what it is like on the planes and his fear of jumping out of an airplane for the first time. Overall I would recommend this book to kids who have an interest in wars and Wold War II.

This isn't a confusing book like some people are saying it is. If you pay attention to th characters names and setting then you'll know what the author is talking about..because this is book is written in two perspectives..one of a German leader and another of a American paratrooper..it has incredible scenes about war, the boot camp, and their family back home. Great book.

Dieter Hedrick is a German boy who is in the HJ, known as the Hitler Jugend. All his life, Dieter has dreamed of becoming a soldier and making his family proud. On the other side is an American soldier named Spencer Morgan. Spencer also really wants to become a soldier. He doesn¿t want to be just any soldier though. Spencer wants to be a paratrooper. The paratroopers are the toughest soldiers alive but Spencer is ready to give it his best and defend his country. Will Spencer make it through paratrooper training, or will he return home to his family with shame. Will Dieter become the soldier he has dreamed of becoming and make his family proud? Read the book to find out. One thing that I really liked about Soldier Boys was that it was action packed which made it a really good book. I couldn¿t put the book down. All I wanted to do was figure out what was going to happen to Spencer of Dieter. One thing I didn¿t like was that the book was a little confusing. The book got confusing because it switched back between Spencer and Dieter every couple of chapters. Overall, Soldier Boys was a really good book. I do not know if Soldier Boys is part of a series. You can check it out if you would like. This book kind of reminds me of Saving Private Ryan for some reason. The two are just kind of the same. Anybody twelve years old to seventeen years old would probably like this book. All I can say is that anyone between the age ranges above should read this book.

This book is so good it is hard to describe. Soldier Boys keeps you on the edge of your seat. Spencer is one of the main characters. He is a sixteen year old boy from Brigham City, enlisted in the Paratroopers. What he does not know is that life in the army is really bad. Deiter is the other. Deiter is a young, Hitler Youth boy that thinks he will not get killed. He never listens to his captain. Deiter thinks he knows everything. For people who like Fallen Angels or ¿Band of Brothers¿, you will love this book.

Two boys on opposites sides of the war are the same age and fighting each other. One boy is a German who is a leader in the Hitler Youth. While the other was a shy farm who signed up to impress a girl. Dieter thinks he is an ideal German and likes to brag. While Spence just tries to stay alive. The two boys are caught in one of the coldest battles of World War Two on opposite sides of the war. One thing I liked about this book was that it showed how the Hitler Youth were just like an army of boys. One boy in the book was even shot for running home. In one Part of this book some boys even said that Hitler was the answer to the world¿s problems. I noticed that this book kind of reminded me of Letters from Iwo Jima. This book reminded me of this movie due to the fact that it told some of the Germans side of the story. I would recommend this book to about anyone who is wanting to learn about World War two. This is not a book in a series. I enjoyed reading this book. I almost couldn¿t put it down..

The book was the best war book I have read in years. It shows the sides of World War 2, germany and america. two young boys get themselves into the war at a young age but doesnt know what its like until the worst happens. I liked this book because it was very detailed and it showed both sides of the war and what it was like to be a soldier in it.

Dieter, a young German boy in the Hitler Youth, at the age of fifteen is the leader of his group. He just received an award from Adolph Hitler and wants to enlist in the German Army. Spence, a seventeen-year-old American boy just enlisted in the American Paratroopers, one of the toughest companies in the American military. His training is unbearable, but somehow Spence found a way to complete his training, and is on his way to Europe to fight the Germans. When Dieter joins his company, he becomes partners with Schaefer, a wise and experienced corporal in the German Army. Schaefer becomes a father-like figure to Dieter. They begin marching to somewhere in Belgium, but are thrown off-track when they are chased into a woods by some shells delivered from an American fighter plane. They continue through the woods until they reach the other side of the woods where they dig foxholes and rest for the night. Spence¿s company is also shipped to someplace in Belgium. They do not see any action for the first couple of days they only marched. That changed when they came upon a small village that was being occupied by some German soldiers. Spence and his company stormed into the village and cleared out the entire village. They continued marching until they come to the top of a giant hill. There was a woods behind it, and that¿s where they dug in their foxholes. They found out their was a German company at the bottom of the hill. It was Dieter¿s company. Dieter and Spence were going to be fighting against each other. I thought this was a very informal book. It showed both sides of the war. The action level was very high, and because of this, there was a lot of gore. If you are a person who likes wars and violence, you would like this book.

This might just be the greatest book I have ever read. I am 15, just like the two boys in the book. I think if you are a teenager you can relate so well to this story. I would recommend this book for ages 14 and up. If you love war stories, I would definitely pick this book up.
