Some Kind of Magic: A True Story of Love, Life, and Wanderlust

This is a love story, but maybe not the kind you expect.

It started with an epiphany and a desire to live life more fully. One fateful day in 2017, Sonya Moore-up until that point, a responsible, hard-working, tax-paying American woman-decided to leave her home and career and set off to explore the other side of the world. That choice led to a three-year journey laced with serendipity and unexpected twists of fate that would show her more than she ever could have imagined.

Joyful and uninhibited, this soul-nourishing tale of love and adventure intertwined with discovery explores the mystery of life and human nature across continents, from the cloud-fringed mountains of Myanmar to the pristine beaches of southern France. Sometimes hilarious, occasionally shocking, always honest, this deliciously told travel memoir entertains and captivates while examining synchronicity, choice and destiny, the roots of happiness, and multiple facets of love against a vivid backdrop of some of the world's most beautiful and little-known places.

About the Author

Sonya's mission in this lifetime is to create beauty and spread happiness, and preferably to have a good time while she's at it. When she's not on a yoga mat, reading, writing, or composting, she may be found dabbling in graphic design, researching her next travel destination, eating something delicious or dancing around the house. Some Kind of Magic: A True Story of Love, Life, and Wanderlust is her first book.

As a book editor with 20+ years experience, Jocelyn has worked on books for major publishers like McGraw Hill, John Wiley & Sons, Routledge, Career Press, and InterVarsity Press. She's ghostwritten books for a TV star, an NFL player, and a heroin addict turned doctor; contributed to more than a dozen leadership books; edited more than 70 books including non-fiction and fiction; and written articles for celebrities in magazines like Real Leaders, Victorious Living, and Recovery Today. She also crafts books for corporations ranging from global companies to entrepreneurs, sometimes in collaboration with her husband, who is a ghostwriter. As editor-in-chief of an inspirational workplace magazine, she's written articles and interviewed leaders such as Dr. Maya Angelou and NFL coach Tony Dungy. She's also owned a leadership consulting firm for 20+ years serving companies like Walmart, AT&T Global, the federal government, and multiple healthcare systems-so she understands human behavior and motivation from a first-hand perspective. This broad experience helps her in editing a variety of books.
