Some Like it Haunted by Karen Cantwell

Book 2 in the Sophie Rhodes Ghostly Romance Series.
Marmaduke Dodsworth is just about the most lovable British ghost you'll ever meet. But Sophie Rhodes and her new boyfriend, Cal, are becoming frustrated with his untimely appearances and intrusions. Marmaduke isn't the only force complicating Sophie and Cal's love life, though. Cal's nefarious ex-wife is suddenly and suspiciously present in their lives. And Sophie's old boyfriend, Shane Daniels, causes problems when he shows up desperate for help after he picks up a clingy ghost from a local haunted house. Throw in a cold case murder investigation and a lust spell that affects mortals and ghosts, and things get downright batty. Will Sophie and Cal's two-month relationship weather the storm of obstacles thrown their way? Will they pass the many tests of their devotion? Will Marmaduke ever stop talking? These questions and more answered in Some Like it Haunted.

This is another winner - I loved reading about all the complications caused by seeing a ghost (or ghosts) for those close to Sophie. I particularly enjoyed her ex-boyfriend's troubles as well as Cal's ex-wife's troubles. Parts of this book were laugh out loud funny and I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.

This new installment brings a new dimension to Cantwell's character Sophie Rhodes. The romance that was begun in her first of the series, Keep Me Ghosted hits some bumps and hiccups as the Dr. Callahan has to face the arrival of his mother and his ex-wife. In addition, Sophie is asked by her ex-boyfriend for help in relieving him of a ghost that has attached herself to him. As Sophie works to discover the identity of said ghost, she also discovers things about herself, and what she wants from her relationship. The book has a lot of entertainment, and I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. If you have not read the first one, you do not have to worry, as Cantwell does a good job of filling you in on the characters, their relationship, and some past history so you are right on track to enjoy the narrative. The only thing that is not well described, I feel, is the vision therapy that is given by Dr. Cantwell. In the first book, this was detailed. But, if one had not read the first one and knew what vision therapy was, the reader might not understand why an eye doctor is performing therapy sessions, and why someone is seeing an eye specialist once a week. But, overall, I highly recommend this book to any of Cantwell fans, especially if you have read the first of the Sophie Rhodes books. But, if you have not, do not despair; you can jump right in on this edition, and enjoy a wonderful romance with a ghostly mystery.

Just in time for Halloween, Karen Cantwell gives us a treat: the second in her Sophie Rhodes series, *Some Like It Haunted.* Both Sophie and her sweety, Cal, wish that Shakespeare weren't so darn smart when he said that the course of true love never did run smooth. Their attempts to celebrate their two-month anniversary are interrupted...and interrupted...and interrupted in a comedy of errors that brings us something old: Sophie's ghost friend Marmaduke; something new: ghost Myrtle May; and something blue: Sophie when Cal's ex-wife shows up and appears much too interested in her former husband. Throw in a cold murder case, marital discord for Cal's parents, genealogical surprises, and a witches' lust potion that not only causes Sophie to have unwanted feelings for her ex but also transforms ectoplasmic Marmaduke into a lovestruck Marmadoodle, and this FUNtastic romp entertains from first word to last ~ with a brief detour that made me cry, and not from laughing. Write fast, Karen Cantwell! I can't get enough of Sophie Rhodes and Barbara Marr! :) ♥
