Overview

Some Sort of Happy (Skylar and Sebastian) by Melanie Harlow

I almost didn't believe it was him.

In high school, Sebastian Pryce had been an aloof outsider who kept to himself. But now, ten years, later he's back and unusually attractive. With muscle in all the right places and hands that know exactly what they're doing, Sebastian is everything I didn't know I needed. And while he isn't exactly friendly, he has a magnetism that draws me in.

He pulls away, afraid he'll break me.

Until the night I demanded more-and he gave it. (Hard and deep. Twice.)

Were we just two lost, lonely people seeking solace?
Or could a disgraced reality TV star and a flawed, frustrating man actually find some sort of happy together?

** SOME SORT OF HAPPY is a full-length standalone romance. **

I am a picky reader. Melanie Harlow does a wonderful job weaving trouble in paradise and solving the issues that leave to the reader swooning. She has a great ability to keep you hanging but at the same time, finishing all the details so you feel complete. I suggest reading the books in order Some Sort of Happy, then Some Sort of Crazy then Some Sort of Love. The Michigan reference in her books are a nice addition to the scenery for this Michigander. Spot on leaving you with even more of a settled feeling know exactly where she id referring. If you haven't been to Michigan, then this series hopefully gets you to come to our beautiful state and see our wine country. All three books are a wonderful read and so glad I took a chance. Enjoy.

I love this book so much. Sebastian is a completely unique hero who stole my heart. I cannot even explain this book, but you will not be sorry that you read it. As usual, A very well-written book, and I'm loving this first book in a series about sisters. But, Sebastian is the star of this show, and he is an unforgettable character.

A Review of Some Sort of Happy (Skylar and Sebastian) by Melanie Harlow Can love overcome inner demons? -- 5+ stars Skylar has made a mess of her life. She left her small home town for the bright lights of New York, just to find out that she wasn't really happy to be there. Then a stint on a reality show, where the producers have her acting the bad girl for ratings, destroys what is left of her reputation and sends her running back home to lick her wounds and decide what her next step is going to be. After the reality show airs, she loses the job she was excited about and runs into Sebastian a couple of times before she recognizes him. In high school, he was the shy, awkward loner who had some odd habits and was teased a lot. Now, he is gorgeous and ripped. As she tries to get to know him, him slowly opens up about his OCD and how he feels he doesn't deserve to be happy. "He’s the most complicated, frustrating, beautiful man I’ve ever met, and my body craves his with a hunger I’ve never known. My heart is his completely. Some people aren’t easy to love. But we fall for them anyway, don’t we?" Can she convince him that she is there to stay and that she won't leave him or will his inner demons destroy his first taste of true love? Having dealt with family members with mental illness, it was a great insight into what the mind can do to a person. He can't control what he thinks and how the voices in his head cause him to backslide into canceling his therapist appointments and lying to Skylar about what he is feeling and doing. I think Melanie did an awesome job in relating Sebastian's pain with his OCD. Well worth the price of the book! Looking forward to reading Natalie's story when it's ready. **Awesome purchase**

Two imperfect people who are perfect for each other. Skylar was the reigning Cherry Queen. She's lived her life floating from job to job not really finding her purpose. After a failed stint on a reality show, she moves back to her hometown to find that she's not entirely welcome. She meets Sebastian Pryce who was the quirky nerdy guy in high school. Not only has he become quite gorgeous, his flaws speak to something in her. For the first time in what feels like forever, Sebastian feels a true connection to someone. Skylar is literally his dream girl. Now he just has to overcome his self-defeating thoughts so he can reach for Some Sort of Happy. Loved that the hero and heroine each struggled with insecurities. The story felt true and genuine and had some funny banter between the characters.
