I found this trek book very adventurous and fun to read. This trek book reminded me of a lost Star trek the original series episode. I enjoyed this from beginning to end.

Finally, one of the most 'alien' Star Trek species is revisited! Excellent book!!

Any TOS fan will probably enjoy this offering. Not a lot of stretching of the immagination or suspension of belief needed here. Maybe a little too much politically correct characterization was imposed on the Horta given the level of sophistication senn in the TOS episode but I was through the book before I realized it.

Read it for yourself and gain your own opinion. If you are true trekie and ever wondered what the future held for certain characters then you will really enjoy this novel in particular! This is one that is full of action suspense and romance. I couldn't put it down. Enjoy!

I just read this book over the weekend. This is a very nice story. Has all the elements you'd expect from a Star Trek Original Series story. The writer has a straight-forward style and includes many of the bridge crew. It doe lacks some of the depth of some other S.T. novels, but a nice read overall.

I read and collect every Star Trek fiction book published and have for over 20 years. This has to be one of the worst Star Trek books I have read in at least ten years. The prose is at about a 6th grade level and reads more like a pulp fiction book from the 1940s than it does a modern day Trek novel. The story also reads like a poorly conceived television episode with the characters acting out of character and the voicing for everyone but Scotty is wrong or a little off. There is very little sense of danger or even of wonder and discovery in this book. Mr. Daniel's is supposed to be an editor for Tor books and my advice is that he stick to editorial work because he is not a very good fiction novelist. At least not a very good Trek novelist. Maybe his science fiction books are better? I don't know but after reading this book I don't want to waste my money to find out. There are so many more really great Trek books to spend your hard earned dollars on and unless you are a collector of Trek fiction I would pass this one up.
