Can Sarah Booth Delaney read between the lines and uncover the truth about this real-life murder mystery?

Private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney and her friends are celebrating New Year’s Eve at the party of the year, a smashing Winter Garden party at the Prince Albert Hotel. It’s a dazzling success…until Frangelica “Sister” McFee walks through the door. Sarah Booth knew Sister in college, before Sister became a bestselling author and moved to New York, and fame and fortune don’t seem to have tempered her arrogance and cruelty.

Sister’s latest book is a memoir about the death of her mother and brother many years ago. Now a film about the book is in the works, and a film crew has descended upon Zinnia, Mississippi, to tell the complete tale. When the film crew realizes there may be more to the story behind the scenes—and between the covers of Sister’s book—they hire Sarah Booth to find out what really happened all those years ago. But soon Sarah Booth realizes that someone is desperate to keep a long-buried secret…and will do whatever it takes to make sure no skeletons come out of the closet.

“Delightfully fun.”—New York Post

“A crazy cozy [series] with a little something for everyone…plenty of Evanovich zaniness, and a cast of eccentrics.”—Booklist

I'd been disappointed in the some of the later books in this series, but Sticks and Bones kept me reading into the night and all afternoon. Ms. Haines is in top form and Sarah Booth has given up soul searching and is back better than ever. There are more turns in this story than US 60 in West Virginia. Loved every minute of it. The characters are over the top and made me laugh as well as hope the nasty ones be vanquished and the good one be triumphant. Loved every minute of this crazy story!

Murder, mayhem, old money and family secrets. So fun. Sticks and Bones by Carolyn Haines is awesome, dahlink. I always find what Sarah Booth and Tinkie get messed up in will make me laugh. I have read all the books in this series, they are all fabulous. I love Sunflower, Mississippi and the delta area where Sarah Booth lives. The culture and the people we meet through Sarah Booth’s adventures are extraordinary characters. The mystery Sarah Booth and Tinkie are hired to solve this time really kept me guessing. I truly didn’t figure it out until almost end. Ms. Haines really kept me guessing. I actually dismissed the killer like three times in my head. The death of Son and Cleo McFee is a cold case that is brought up again by the release of a Sister McFee’s best-selling book, which was optioned into a movie deal. The movie production company has hired the ladies to find the truth. I love the regular characters. Sarah Booth is feisty, stubborn, and brave. She will do anything for the people she loves. Tinkie is a petite, blond who the ability to make men bend to her will. They both run around with their pets, who create as much mischief as the two prying private eyes. Sarah Booth seems to have decided on her beau finally. I kind of hoped that she might choose Harold, but Coleman and she have a great connection and they seem to be a good fit, too. I know that just making a choice will make Jitty happy. The drama, lies, secrets, and dysfunction in this old money family is terrible. It is like the money has corrupted their entire beings. I love the way Ms. Haines incorporates all of this into the mystery and uses it to keep us guessing. Never underestimate what someone will do for money. My rating is 5 stars, and I can’t wait for Sarah Booth and Tinkie’s next adventure. If you haven’t read any of the series you should definitely give it a shot. Sticks and Bones was by far the best in this series so far. Sarah Booth and her best pal Tinkie are amazing in this book and I could not put it down. There was so much drama, lies, secrets and family deception going on that I found myself transported into the book. When the Delaney Detective Agency is hired by a movie producer to track down the truth about an accident that happened 5 years earlier, Sarah becomes involved in an investigation that could be her last one. Frangelica “Sister” McFee is the author of the book that tells the story of the downfall of her brother, who was allegedly an addict who caused his mother's death and quite possibly his own. Although his body was never discovered, the movie producers want to get the truth before making the movie. Sister is a mean, self-centered character who has nothing nice to say about anyone, especially Tinkie. For that alone Sarah Booth is on edge with this dysfunctional family, but when she begins to unravel the threads of the tightly woven tapestry of family secrets, someone is determined to silence the detectives for good. This book will appeal to all cozy mystery readers. Jitty plays such a comical role in this book that I couldn't help but chuckle every time she made an appearance.
