About the Author

Jane Simkins is a jack of all trades and a master of one - honesty, which makes her autobiographical journal and debut book Streakin' all the more relatable to anyone who is or has been a teenager. She was born and raised in the perfectly sized town of Galesburg, Illinois, where everything a teenage girl might need, or desire, is within five minutes and a couple stop lights. Jane got the writing bug by winning the locally prestigious Young Author's Award in 4th grade for her Adventures of Larry Lint. In high school, Jane became a mediocre member of the marching band, semi-decent soccer player, B-average student and a sub-par cheerleader for that one year (everyone made the team). She was your mainstream Midwestern teen who just happened to have her own column, Jane's Journal, published in the local newspaper. Jane's weekly writings on homecoming dances, student council meetings, and other high school happenstances won her the Leadership Greater Galesburg Award in 2009. Coming up on her 10-year class reunion, her articles remain refreshingly honest and relevant as she streaks through her reactions in real time from freshman orientation to senior graduation. Jane hopes her high-school self would be proud of this book but realizes her 16-year old would "totally freak" if she knew her diary was for sale on Amazon.
