4.5 STARS Charley had been banished for restoring Amber’s life and now, she is back after a hundred years of exile, but thankfully time runs differently on earth. While Charlie was trapped in her cosmic time out, Reyes has been busy gathering the troops in one place to fight the demons who were released when the hell dimension he made and eventually broke in order to get back out. Charley has been told the key to winning the fight between good and evil is finding out what really happened to her mother when she was born. Charley’s usual irreverence and quirky behavior is in full swing and thankfully, Reyes is by her side much of the book trying to save Albuquerque and the world from the spreading evil demons released from the dark dimension. Demons are possessing people and turning them into vicious killers. These are particularly bad ones created by someone important to Charley. All the favorite characters have important roles to play in this final book which has some surprises, some happy and others quite sad. Some events in this books will as usual have readers laughing, but others will bring them to tears. My favorite part is that Reyes and Charley are together for much of the story and some loose ends are tied up as well as questions being answered. Ultimately, Charley’s main concern is for her daughter’s welfare as well as Reyes. What shakes out from their earlier actions in the previous book has some good and not so good consequences. And so we come to the end of all things and possibly a beginning. I imagine finishing a beloved series is always hard for the author as well as the fans. Admittedly, this conclusion left me feeling conflicted. I can see why Ms. Jones wrote it that way as it sets up Charley’s daughter, Beep, and Osh’s story. I have mixed feelings about Reyes and Charley’s resolution and where this story takes ultimately them. That being said, this book is a necessary read for fans of the series to see it all come to completion. This last book and its conclusion will have readers talking about it for a long time.

Thirteen, thirteen major challenges, thirteen in the ‘crew’, thirteen lost to the Shade, the number pops up regularly and often, and serves only to reinforce the final episode in this saga that is Charley. And let there be no questions – for this story as it surrounds Charley and Reyes is ending, in all ways marvelous, heartbreaking and SO very Charley that you can’t help but smile despite the tears. From major revelations about Ubie, a stand off with Michael the Archangel, deals made and bargains struck, and all of this in the midst of a hell dimension opening in the apartment that Charley and Reyes shared. The Shade demons, created by Reyes when banished on another plane, specifically meant to resist Charley’s powers have invaded – and Albuquerque is under martial law – no one in or out until the cause and solution for this virus can be found. And, things aren’t good as Charley, after disobeying and flaunting her ‘bad behavior’ in front of Michael the Archangel, has been banished to a ‘hell dimension’, 10 days in human time, a century in her own, until she is released to Reyes- so they can find the way to banish the Shade. Of course, everyone has been relocated out of the apartment to a warehouse on the outskirts of town: and the gang is all there. And fortunately for us, there is plenty of time to unearth secrets, get a chance to say goodbye to some, OMG to other’s revelations, and of course, follow Charley as yet another ‘near to death’ child appears in her place- needing answers and to find his mother. With one last appearance from the evil that haunted Reyes growing up, a showdown with the Vatican, finding another piece of the puzzle that is Rocket and Blue, and a wonderful ‘last chance’ moment with Beep that brings untold tears and lots of healing to Reyes, the story moves from high to low-lights, each moment revealing yet another piece of the puzzle that is Charley’s world, in ways that just couldn’t have been any different. With all that has happened, and Charley’s tendency to pop off with a half-conceived plan (or fully conceived but destined to go pear-shaped) what I think I (and most of us) have failed to notice is her ability to act FOR the right reasons, giving those plans a bit of oomph and perhaps drawing on the luck that is so needed. It took me 6 days (yes -six) to read this. That’s 50 pages (or about 3 chapters) a day – savoring, sobbing, digesting and even re-reading bits that seemed throwaway at first, but are supremely important. I cried. I laughed. I wanted to beg Darynda Jones to continue the story – never realizing that she found THE PERFECT CONCLUSION. Everyone says their goodbyes, and everyone is, for the moment, safe and happy. Taking her irreverent application of ‘rules, guidelines and ‘what must be’ into account, Charley bargains with Michael the Archangel, although is it really a bargain if the angel is smirking and seems to somehow respect your chutzpah? And Charley makes that ultimate sacrifice in hopes that she can, again, bargain with the fates – and concludes this story of a woman / god and her friends / family / angels, humans, demons and spirits who sought only to do the best that she could. I can’t recommend this series any stronger than that – grab them all. Read. Laugh. Cry, Repeat. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This is it, the final book in this series. And how fitting that it's the number thirteen. I'm sad that it's going to be the last one but at the same time I'm glad that we got our big ending. I think we've all been waiting a long time for that to happen, since the previous book ended on such a huge cliffhanger. And to be honest, this book ends more on a HFN than a HEA, since there's still the big battle that Beep has to fight agains Lucifer. I've read somewhere, so this info might not be 100% accurate, that we'll get a spin off for Beep's story. I hope that's true, since I'm in love with this series and would love to continue reading about such fantastic characters. Especially since we don't know what happened to Osh. So I think the author is hinting at the new spin off with that little clue. And about what happens in this book...well...I'm not giving away any big spoilers so you'll just have to read the book to find out for yourself. But it's safe to say that this time all that could go wrong, goes wrong. And disastrously so. As in all hell is breaking loose and in the literal sense at that. Can't say I'm surprised by that, since that happens to me on a daily basis once I leave home and my cats can have the time of their lives destroying the house. As for Charley and Reyes, I mean, they can't do any wrong in my opinion. Even if they accidentally almost destroy the whole world, no biggie. After being gone from the earthly plain for what felt like an eternity Charley had to live a little, right? And also, this might be the book where we get to see the couple spend most of their time together. Can't tell you how much I loved that. They are one of my all time favourite couples, their relationship is always so funny and something I someday wish to have with my loved one. Not to mention all the sexy scenes we get in this book. Aside from that, it felt so good to get the whole gang back together, the whole big family reuniting once again for this big battle. I mean, what more could one want from this series conclusion, right? Well, there were some pretty big plot twist and revelations and even deaths that left me completely stunned. I think it was Rocket's secret that had shocked me the most, like who knew? I was so happy and at the same time so sad for him. I wished someone would give him a big hug. All in all, this is a bitterweeet ending of a great series and this book is a must read for all Charley and Reyes fans!

Darynda Jones' Summoned to Thirteenth Grave (Charley Davidson, #13) is a wee bit contemporary/futuristic and a lot paranormal. I had previously read a Charley Davidson book so had a mindset based on that previous book. Big surprise. I had missed a lot in the eleven books I had not read. Charley has been in exile for over one hundred years when she is returned to Arizona. Charley and her husband, Reyes, find themselves in a race against time not only to save their daughter, Beep, but to save the world. Nonstop action and certainly grabs you and holds on to the very end. I would recommend it to Charley Davidson and Darynda Jones fans as well as others interested in paranormal and the war between good and evil.

A really great ending to Charley and Reyes story. A little sad to see it end but hopefully there will be another series with Beep and Osh. Really was very spellbinding it was hard to put down. It had some very good endings for some and some unsuspected ending for others. Voluntarily reviewed.

The spectacular, supernatural thriller, Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave by Darynda Jones, is the recent and final book in the Charley Davidson series. After being banned from earth to another dimension, Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper, returns to save the world yet again with mirth and cunning. There are some truly WHOA moments as well as a few laugh-out laugh funny moments. I’ve read every book in this series and anticipated the release of this book and it didn’t disappoint. Although it’s sad to see this series come to an end, it couldn’t have been wrapped up any sweeter and tidier. All lose ends were tied up with a big Charley bow. All questioned were answered in this well-written finale and there were many surprises you won’t see coming. This is a bitter sweet ending to this series but I’m excited to see what Darynda Jones will write next. Her prose is both dynamic and comical. I highly recommend this book. I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I couldn’t wait to read this book while at the same time dreading the end. I laughed, I cried, I was surprised, I was shocked, I was elated, I was heartbroken, I rejoiced and I grieved. This book had my emotions everywhere and I loved every minute of it. What a ride! Can’t wait to see what Mrs Jones has in store for us next! I look forward to Beeps story as well as reading other characters’ stories who are still developing. Please don’t make us wait too long!

In business and gambling the word is to quit when you're ahead. In showbiz it's quit while you're at the top. So I guess we can't whine overlong about this being the last of a long run of excellent work. But we can still whine. It's been great and always worth rereading, and this last one is excellent but bittersweet. Don't want to say too much about the plot except that it is at the top. I do wonder who's hiding in Darynda's imagination waiting to get out, though. I requested and received a free ebook copy from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley. Thank you so much!

There is no way this is the last Charlie Davidson book. It may be the last Grave book and future books may not focus on Charlie and Reyes, but there is still too much story left to tell for the series to be over. I have not heard anything officially, but there has to be a spinoff series focusing on Beep. Like most, if not all, of these books the ending has a cliffhanger. Don’t worry, the author does a wonderful job of tying up loose ends, but she couldn’t leave well enough alone. One question. She ends the book with ONE QUESTION and I was “Wait! What?” So yes, there has to be a spinoff series. I loved the book. Charlie is in her normal, snarky glory. I laughed out loud. I almost cried. In other words, a typical Charlie Davidson book. There were plots and subplots which I enjoyed, and they cleared up some issues that I didn’t even know I had. Old characters returned and we lost people I was not ready to lose. And I have to tell you, there is a character reveal that blew my mind! My only problem with the book is I need a timeline. When did Reyes and Charlie first meet as adults? When was Beep born? How long did Charlie have amnesia? I guess I just need to re-read the entire series . . . and that’s a wonderful thing! This book was sent to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Darynda Jones, and St. Martin’s Press for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advanced copy. The last in the Charley Davidson series. People are losing their minds! There is an epic event that only Charley and Reyes can solve. With their loyal posse of friends, both worldly and otherworldly, they are on the case. You can expect the usual snappy one liners, steamy scenes, and a wrap up of any story lines tied up with a bow. You know what you are getting and Jones does not disappoint.

Charley Davidson, the Grim Reaper, and her husband, Reyes, former demon and son of Satan, have one more hellish situation to fix in Summoned to Thirteenth Grave. Charley is finally released from her purgatory from the last book. While she was gone, a new hell dimension has opened in Albuquerque. A flu from within is turning people homocidal and eventually suicidal. And the hell dimension is getting larger. To say more will spoil the surprises. I hate when book series end. However, this is a great conclusion to a great series. The “army” is all here: Uncle Bob, Cookie, Quentin, Donovan, Osh plus plenty more. The story is an action-packed corker of a finale. If you have read this series before, even just one book, you have to read Summoned to Thirteenth Grave. I’m sure there will be a spin-off so we may see Charley and Reyes again. 5 stars! Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Summoned to Thirteenth Grave is the final book in the Charley Davidson series by author Darynda Jones. As it is the culmination of events spanning twelve books I had a lot of questions I wanted answers for, characters I wanted to visit one last time, and of course a big bang at the end. Well, I got most of those. The book was nerve wracking, frustrating, exciting, tear jerking, laugh out loud funny, and at times sexy, too. It had all the revelations I was looking for, not to mention several surprises! This is a must read for fans of the series but it isn't recommended as a stand alone. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance digital copy for review. All opinions are my own.

OMG!!!! What an ending to the most amazing series ever!!! I cannot believe it is over and how she ended this with a very big unanswered question......Where is Osh? Charley is back from banishment after “One hundred seven years, two months, fourteen days, twelve hours, and thirty-three minutes.” What does she find upon her return, The Shade. The Shade is spreading out of the hell dimension she accidentally opened and it is taking over Albuquerque. People are infected with demons and going crazy. After a heartfelt reunion with the gang, Charley must come up with a plan to save Albuquerque and the infected. But in true form, there are many unknowns, with plenty of heart stopping twists. On the edge of my seat, I followed along as Charley embarks on her biggest challenge yet. And boy is it a dozy. It may just be her last. Reyes and Charley are the most sexual and hot couple out there in the paranormal world. Being Gods is just a bonus in their book. I love these two characters and the adventures they have embarked on together. The fit together like two perfect puzzle pieces. Working together to save humanity and Beep. They were made for one another....literally. Charley Davidson and Reyes Farrow: That thing that happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object. —True fact This book holds true to form with the funny chapter headings as well. I love the funny memes, t-shirt quotes, bumper stickers and facts. They really crack me up. Not to mention true to Darynda form, these books are full of funny sarcasm that will have you in stitches. Let us not forget Charley's addiction to coffee. That will never change no matter what celestial plane she is on. I’m not really into the whole “rise and shine” thing. Most days I just caffeinate and hope for the best. —Bumper sticker I got to say, being the last book in the series Darynda really socked it to her readers. There were thrills, chills and tears galore. Throughout this whole series she has completely captivated her audience and kept us all addicted. I can't imagine a world without Charley and the gang. And it seems I may not have to. With an ending like this one, there is only one way to go from here.....a spin off series. So as an avid fan, I will sit back, hope and pray that this is truly not the end. Please, please, please let this continue in some way or form known best as spin off. Darynda is a fantastic story writer, full of imagination and excellent writing skills. Her books are highly addictive. She has this way of creating a world that you could get lost in. A world full of amazing characters you can't help but fall in love with. Her books are amazing adventures full of fun, danger and romance. Beautiful creations. Bravo Darynda for another job well done. If I could give this book a million trillion stars ⭐️ I would. I absolutely love this series and am sad to see it end. But all great things must come to an end. It is sad to see the end, but here's to looking forward to new beginnings.
