Overview

From USA Today Bestselling author, the second book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series

If you don't love, you can't get hurt...

Nick Kepler

One thing my childhood taught me was never show my emotions. Don't make memories. Don't count on other people. Don't hope for the best.

All that changed when I was adopted by Ryan and Whitney Kepler.

Begrudgingly I let them into my life, along with my new sister and a best friend I would lay down my life for. But giving up my heart and accepting love in return from Kelsea Harrison? It's the hardest thing I've ever tried to do.

And the truth is? I'm not sure if I'm that strong.

Kelsea Harrison

From the very moment I met Nick Kepler I knew he would be the love of my life. Problem is I haven't been able to convince him of that yet.

When our best friends get married, Nick and I spend a drunken night letting our walls down and losing all our inhibitions. In one moment I'm given everything I ever wanted. Then, in the blink of an eye it's taken away from me.

The question is, can I be strong for the both of us?

The answer? I have to be.

5 champagne-filled-stars! Reviewed by Angelique Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog In the second novel of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Teamseries, Suppression by USA Today Bestselling Author, Laramie Briscoe, follows Nick and Kelsea and how life isn't always better when you are alone. Nick has had a rough childhood and doesn't trust easily because he's seen the dark side of life a few too many times. He was lucky enough to be adopted by two wonderful people who raised him to be a very good human despite his troubled past. Kelsea has always had a soft spot for Nick. She knows his past and understands why he is the way he is, but that doesn't stop her from trying to crawl into his heart. Nor does it stop her from trying to change his mind on what he thinks he deserves, VS what she knows he deserves. At first, you're not sure if she even should despite knowing that Nick needs someone of his own. But, it becomes obvious as their story unfolds and develops that things might just be falling into place for good - even if it took time to get there. It's both a right of passage to crush on your best friend's brother or sister but with Nick and Kelsea, it is so much more than a simple crush. Thanks to the previous books in this series, you can identify how everyone fits in and how they've grown up alongside each other. As life goes there is always a hill to climb, especially when things seem to go really good. Things can easily be fragile with Nick, I was worried that this 'hill' would not be one that they could overcome. Luckily, there's always a way out and over if you want something bad enough. Their connection is magic and the pull is undeniable. When they do eventually connect, it sets the virtual world on fire. It is impossible not to root for them in the end! This book is filled with laughter, tears of heartbreak, tears of joy, and every other emotion you can possibly fit between these two covers. Both this book and the overall series is one I would certainly recommend a hundred times over!

Suppression is a top-notch novel that shows the healing power of love. Nick and Kelsea have a powerful love that transforms lives. Nick has always been the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, never good enough to be loved. Being rescued by a police officer and made part of his family, Nick will never forget the abusive beginnings that shaped him into the man he is today. Unable to stomach any memories from his past, Nick tries to out run his feelings for Kelsea, she’s been pushing all of the right buttons to make him want a relationship. Kelsea has always been in love with Nick for as long as she can remember. He was and still is the one, getting him to realize he is a good, kind, lovable man with a heart of gold. Kelsea jumps right in when Nick needs her, making an instant family to provide shelter for an abused child. Leaning on her best friend for support Kelsea slowly treads in the deep water of Nick Kepler. Nick and Kelsea could have wrote the book on chemistry. The sparks fly whenever they are close, each one wanting every ounce of the other. To watch them grow as a couple and as individuals was so satisfying, from broken children to family whose love has no bounds. All of our favorite past couples make small appearances throughout the novel some more than most, still great well developed characters that hold all their charms and charisma from previous novels. To call this novel an emotional roller coaster would be a huge understatement. It will trigger emotion from happiness, love, anger, hatred and satisfaction. Ms. Briscoe’s work continues to amaze me, it pulls readers in and leaves us grasping for the more. Suppression is a top favorite of mine and I will highly recommend it to any romance readers.

Suppression is book two in the Laurel Springs ERT series and while each book can be read as a standalone, if you have followed the Moonshine Task Force series you feel like your family has grown and couldn’t be happier. One thing I loved that the author did in the beginning of the book is list out who each person was from Moonshine to this spin-off. It helped not only for those first-time readers, but for us who have read her prior books and knew the friends/family, but down the road blurred these characters together since it may have been awhile since you read those books. This truly helps you enjoy the story and know which character stemmed from where or who may be leading into their own story if not already one out there. You are never felt like you are missing out on anything reading her stories as she always makes sure to fill you in to ensure you love each book. Truly emotional, well written and the chemistry between these two were in the making for a long time. Nick had a rough life until the Kepler’s came into his live and you will see that Kelsea has always been the friend who was there for Nick even when she wanted to be so much more. Nick still struggles with his demons and doesn’t believe love exists from his experience even though he sees so many of his family have the type of love he secretly yearns for. Kelsea is strong and knows it won’t be easy but is going to step up and know the battle hill will be worth it. Grab some tissues cause you will be trying to read through cloudy eyes with how this story unfolds. You will get sad tears and happy tears. We even get bonus chapters (you will see as you read is all I will say) that allow your heart to expand even more than it already did reading this story. Once you start reading this story you are going to want to read it in one sitting, trust me. There is so much more I want to say, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers so please just read this book cause you will not be disappointed. There is not a book by this author that you will not fall in love with. Each time you read a new story by her, she leaves an imprint on your heart and gives a message to others who may have experienced some of these events that shows you being hurt in the past can lead to a better life. Without those experiences while sad, it makes you who you are now and that is to be the better person in life. I’m loving how this family continues to grow as a family (both at work and as family/friends) and I cannot wait to see who is next in line. I highly recommend this book or any book written by this author to others.

Yes and Thank You! Suppression just hits all the points for me. The steamy and stolen moments between Nick and Kelsea. The yearning that you can feel down to your toes! These two had the chemistry that made the room feel too warm. You have the angst and build up of the slow burn. Then you are twisted with doubt because of Nick. You have no clue how their story will start or end. Suppression is HOT! I could not take myself away from this book. I have been following Laramie's books with these series and it builds upon each other. I love the men of Laurel Springs and growing with the characters. I say it all the time and I cannot help it. Bit these forks feel like family. I hold them near and dear to my heart. If you have been following along from the beginning, that is okay. You still need to start somewhere and Suppression will not disappoint!

Ever since we got a glimpse of Nick and Kelsea's story in Ransom's book....I knew that I wanted more. Let me tell you it was so worth the wait. Kelsea has loved Nick for what seems like forever. She knows that if he gives into the connection that they undeniably share that it could be the best thing that ever happened to them both. She fears that she will never get the future she so desperately wants with Nick but one thing she will never do is give up on the possibility of them. Nick hasn't had the easiest time of things. His past still haunts him to this day. He is forever grateful that Ryan and Whitney did what they did for him but his past still has a stranglehold on him. He has a hard time letting people in and doesn't feel that he is worthy of someone caring and loving him like him....especially Kelsea. He can't no longer fight what he feels for Kelsea and gives into the attraction. Can Nick let go of his past to embrace his future with Kelsea? I loved this book so much and I would highly recommend it to all. I was hooked from beginning to end and hated to see it end. I can't wait to see what is in store next for the LSERT series....well done!!!!!

Suppression by Laramie Briscoe is the second book in her Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. This is the next generation awesomeness of the Moonshine Task Force series. So while readers of the the MTF books will get a kick out of the characters involvement in the LSERT series it is all about the new kids. Suppression is the story of Nick Kepler and Kelsea Harrison and is heartfelt, emotional, angsty and wonderful. Nick was rescued by the Keplers when he was in his early teens. A life of abuse and neglect finally came to an end when he joined their family but it seems as though he has always been waiting for the other shoe to drop. As a result he has never allowed anyone too close outside of the Kepler's. Even Kelsea and he has liked her for a long time. Kelsea knows some of the trouble Nick has had to deal with but she is about done putting herself out there for him. While they excel at friendship he just can't seem to let her in any closer than that. But as they both are drawn to each other and their feelings are obvious Nick is getting better at letting her close. But then an opportunity falls into their laps and they have to completely change their dynamic or risk another's well-being. Loved this so much. There has not been a Laramie book so far that I haven't been invested in and this whole Laurel Springs family is one I love to visit again and again. Enjoy!

Suppression is an epically written love story, delivered with the hopeful, heartfelt, haunting flare of a Laramie Briscoe romance radiating from every page. I swear there’s an invisible cord forever connecting my heart to every Laramie Briscoe romance (especially any of our MTF/Laurel Springs heroes), and Suppression is no different there. I was hooked from the start, addicted to the steaminess, the passion, the pain, the love, the heartbreak. I ate it all up until the very last page and now I need seconds in the form of the next Emergency Response Team. Stat. Code RED HOT. Nick has massively intrigued me since meeting him in Ransom and he did not disappoint in this sexy, swoontastic, angstfest that tore at my heart and overheated my kindle! I cannot recommend the Laurel Springs gang enough to anyone that loves sexy alpha heroes and badass heroines.

The Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team is turning out to be as explosive as it’s parent series. This series is about the 2 generation (the kids) of the Moonshine Taskforce. The author has given us another well written storyline that will tear at your heartstrings and keep you in suspense as you fly through the pages. Kelsea has been in love with Nick as long as she can remember. But she has her doubts that he will ever take things beyond friendship. But it doesn’t keep her from wishing with all her heart. As for Nick, he learned at a young age not to show any emotions and you won’t get hurt, so no matter what he “wants” he knows he has to hold Kelsea at bay. One drunken night they both let their guard down. But in the light of day, while Kelsea is in heaven, Nick knows he’s messed up and not good enough for Kelsea, so he walks away. Can Kelsea convince Nick he’s worth it, that they are worth fighting for? Or will she finally be convinced they weren’t meant to be and move on. This is a very emotional, exciting, suspenseful romance that hold your heart captive. I Highly recommend Suppression and all the Laurel Springs books (Moonshine Task Force series & the Emergency Response Team series). 2 Thumbs Up 5 Amazing Stars!!!!

I don’t know how the author does is. Every Laurel Springs book manages to be even better than the one before it. Sweet and sexy and so full of big emotions. This is not a book you want to read out in public. The fact that that’s exactly what I did is the only reason I didn’t break down into a full-on ugly crying fit. My only option was to remain stoic and blink a lot to clear the tears from my vision. Kelsea is a sweetheart. I’ve adored her for as long as we’ve known her. Sassy, spunky, and utterly devoted to Nick, she’s always been one of my favorites. Nick repeatedly broke my heart. I just wanted to cuddle him close and convince him he was worthy of the love this amazing extended family lavished on him. The unexpected family situation this pair ends up in could only happen to these two. The whole emergency response family would have stepped up, but I’m not sure how many of them would have done so in the same way as Nick and Kels. I don’t know what we should be expecting next, but I know I need to read it as soon as I can get my hands on it. I received a complimentary advanced copy of the book from the author.

I seriously do not know how Laramie Briscoe does it. I fell in love with Laurel Springs while reading the Moonshine task force and I was so happy when this new series came out. Each book I read I fall more in love with this town and these people. This story was Nick and Kelsea. I was really looking forward to reading it and this book did not disappoint. I read it in one sitting and it left me with wanting more. I fell in love with Nick. It broke my heart with what he went through as a child but he turned into a great man. Kelsea was such a sweet person. She has been in love with Nick for half her life but no matter what she does he always pushes her away. Now Nick and Kelsea have a chance to change the fate of another little boy if they work together as couple. Will Nick be able to let Kelsea in? Will Kelsea be able to break down his walls? I highly suggest picking up this book and finding out the answer to those question. This book is such an amazing read. I am honestly hoping the perhaps the next book in this series will be about Karsyn and Tucker. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
