After reading Sweet Dreams, I couldn't wait to dive into Hannah and Evan's story! I loved both of their characters in the first book. Plus, I couldn't wait for them to prove their siblings "wrong" - for Hannah that meant staying at the bakery for a few months rather than giving into her wanderlust and for Evan that meant being a successful temporary CEO. As it turns out, this book is EVEN BETTER than the first one! I loved the dynamic between Hannah and Even. It was the perfect distribution of adorable and sexy. Plus, the banter between them was fantastic - their chemistry just poured out. I also enjoyed reading about the trips they took in the book as well as the struggles they faced at work. More importantly, I liked that adventure hungry Hannah finally found a home in this! It warmed my heart to see her so happy and content. In all, Sweet Dreams is a fanatic follow-up!

I thought the 1st 1/2 of this book was good. It was interesting learning about all of the love traditions and words Evan had mention. I liked Evan had a internal flaw. There aren't too many books I've read that have that. But again I think I started to fall out of love with the 2 main characters, but I do think this was a lot better than book 1.

This book delivered all the emotional ups and downs that kept me captivated to know more. Evan and Hannah are an excellent couple together. They are the perfect match to help each other emerge from their own insecurities. Evan is the brother with the heart condition which has kept him in his brother’s shadows. He has worked hard to prove himself and show he can handle what life throws at him but no matter what he does, this cloud follows him. He finally is given the responsibility he’s always wanted at Sugar Rush but another hurdle is placed in his way. Hannah has built a successful travel blog, she has spent years roaming the earth, I think trying to figure out who she really is as she ran from her hometown. When her sister Polly needs to follow her dream to Paris, she agrees to come home and run the family bakery. I enjoyed seeing Hannah find joy in something she always felt wasn’t her area, Polly and their Mom had a different bond which made Hannah feel like the outsider but she finds her place at the bakery. Evan has been captivated by Hannah from the first moment he met her, loving her carefree and adventurous spirit. This is a refreshing romance as a slow burn starts between the two of them. It surprised me how much they did have in common with their own fears and insecurities. Their journey is full of fabulously fun moments as they push each other out of their comfort zones. I have to say that Evan is my favorite Stone brother.

Heir to the Sugar Rush Candy Company, Evan Stone was a sexy bad boy with a perpetual sweet tooth! A smooth talker, with a charming personality, I wasn't expecting the pastry history or the linguistics lessons, but they added a depth to his character that made him pretty darn appealing! Hannah Lockhart, a traveling blogger and photographer, was a bold yet vulnerable character. Stuck taking care of her sister's bakery for 6 months, Hannah chafes at the restrictions placed on her nomadic lifestyle, but a promise made is a promise...Hannah is trying to keep. She could be frustratingly selfish, but as she revealed herself in bits and pieces...well, I grew to like her more than I thought I would. Evan and Hannah's relationship was meant to be casual-flirty conversations and hot sex- but it eventually developed into something deeper. Both were looking for a physical escape from their lives, not realizing they didn't have to go to the ends of the world to find what they were looking for. Their journey was a mash up of crazy, sexy fun, with pockets of vulnerabilities exposing themselves when I least expected, but it made the read so worthwhile! Sweet Escape turned out to be a surprisingly emotional read! The story was still flirty and fun, but I felt Evan and Hannah had more "oomph" to their chemistry and more depth to their relationship than Polly and Luke from Sweet Dreams. And the amusing distractions the secondary cast gave-zippy lines, sarcastic wit, and droll humor-the Stone family and bakery regulars hit the spot every time! Book 2 in the Sugar Rush series, Sweet Escape lived up to its title! I would recommend reading Sweet Dreams first, however, to fully appreciate the plethora of dynamics in the series! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received at no cost from the author. Julie-Alphas Do It Better Book Blog

As I thought of my first line of this review, having literally just finished, I have to chuckle: This story had so much more heart than I expected. By the way, I am a huge fan of puns. Especially unintentional puns. Anyway, I quite enjoyed basically everything about this story! I hadn't read the first book or any other Nina Lane books, but I will absolutely be adding them to my TBR list! Hannah is a woman filled with wanderlust, which generally works out well for her as a travel blogger. Except when she owes it to her sister to stay in their hometown holding down the fort at their bakery. Evan has a heart defect and has had to live with being "the sick one" his entire life. He sees an opportunity with Hannah to break away from that for awhile and takes it. These two are so much fun together and can really heat up a room (or porch, bath, or beachfront shack). I really appreciated how their relationship developed and all of the cute little heart touches were woven in. Let it also be said that Evan was a true delight and surprise for me. At first, he was adorable but confident and I was hooked. Then, he was sweet and a little naughty. Then, he was dirty and yummy. He was all the things you could want from a male lead! He can find my sweet tooth any time he wants. ;) The crisis in this is about what you would expect, but still works really well for the story, with no melodrama. It's very well-done and a serious pleasure to read!

Sweet Escape is book two in Nina Lane’s Sugar Rush series, a series that has quickly found its way to the top of my TBR. The Stone brothers are heirs to the billion-dollar Sugar Rush Candy Company. There are six, count them, SIX sexy brothers. That gives us six potentially hot and, uh-hem, sweet stories to look forward to. Sweet Escape is Evan’s story. Evan Stone has had his eyes on Hannah since she first arrived to town a few months ago. Their attraction is definitely mutual, and it’s also safe. After all, Hannah is only staying in Rainsville to run Wild Child Bakery for her sister, Polly, long enough for Polly to travel to Paris where she’s taking pastry-making courses and doing an internship with a famous patisserie. That suits Evan just fine, since temporary is the only thing he has to offer. Even if he wanted to, Evan’s heart won’t let him consider more, and that works for Hannah. As it is, she’s not sure how much longer she can suppress the wanderlust spirit that took her away from Rainsville years ago. For now, her commitment to her sister is the only thing keeping her put, but love has a funny way of changing our plans. Sometimes we find out that the thing we thought we would never have (or maybe even wanted) is the one thing we can’t live without. Sweet Escape is a delicious balance of the sweet and savory (and even a little of the bitter) that life gives us. Evan and Hannah’s attraction makes for some spicy moments, but it’s the tender ones, the getting-to-know-you ones, and the let-me-take-care-of-you ones that touched me most. It’s been a while since a couple touched me this tenderly (and sweetly). Four heartwarming stars.

Sweet Escape By: Nina Lane 4.5 star review by Kristie K. A sinfully sweet story, filled with intense sexual chemistry and plenty of whipped cream… Hannah Lockhart lives for adventure, and can’t stand to stay in one place for very long. As a travel blogger focusing on love traditions, staying in one place isn’t an issue…until her sister gets the opportunity of a lifetime and needs her to watch over her bakery for six months. Being back home in the small town of Rainsville, California for a term longer than a couple of weeks is proving to be more difficult than Hannah thought it would be. To make things worse, her blog needs content, and soon. When an unfortunate run in with a whipped cream dispenser lands her in the capable hands of the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on. Another unexpected turn of events has her agreeing to allow this man to show her what California has to offer a love blogger such as herself. Evan Stone has a broken heart…literally. Battling a heart defect since birth, Evan is constantly trying to overcome the concerns his family harbors regarding his heart. A chance encounter involving whipped cream drops a beautiful distraction into his lap, and the chance to forget about his heart if even for a short time. The challenge and attraction that Hannah brings to his life open him up and make him sing. But when reality slams back in, Evan and Hannah face the toughest choices of their lives. Sweet Escape lives up to its title in every way. A wonderful story of love, life, and the challenges they bring, Nina Lane has delivered a deliciously decadent treat. I absolutely fell in love with these characters! Their quirks, their wit, their strength, and their love were incredible. The underlying angst of the story only added to the depth of feeling these characters and their story evoked. Even though it broke my heart, so many parts of this story brought healing, warmth, and love as well. A well woven tale of love, heartbreak, and redemption. As for the technical stuff…the story was very well written, and the plot and storyline well thought out and very well executed. The drama was subdued, but poignant, and the characters so well developed they leapt off the page and into my heart. As the title so eloquently states, Hannah and Evan’s story is definitely a Sweet Escape. Kristie K.

4.25stars--SWEET ESCAPE is the second installment in Nina Lane’s contemporary, adult SUGAR RUSH romance series focusing on the Stone family who own and operate the Sugar Rush Candy Company. This is heir to the Sugar Rush Company and current head of operations Evan Stone, and bakery shop co-owner/ blogger Hannah Lockhart’s story line. SWEET ESCAPE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Hannah and Evan in book one-Sweet Dreams. Told from dual third person perspectives (Hannah and Evan) SWEET ESCAPE focuses on the building relationship between Hannah Lockhart and Evan Stone. Hannah is Evan’s brother Luke’s fiance’s sister (say that again five times), and a woman whose presence in Rainsville, California has caught the attention of Evan Stone. Hannah is working at the family owned Wild Child bakery while her sister Polly attends an exclusive baking school in Paris, France but Hannah’s need to be on the move is increasing our heroine’s anxiety. Never one to stay in one place for very long, Hannah isn’t ready to set down roots especially in Rainsville, California where memories of the past continue to haunt our heroine’s life. At a local bachelor auction for charity, Hannah bids fifty thousand dollars to protect Evan Stone from his former fling, and in doing so steps into a relationship that changes her perspective about travel, being on the move, and the man with whom she will fall in love. What ensues is the building love between Evan and Hannah, and Evan’s need to push Hannah away when his heart condition threatens once again. The relationship between Evan and Hannah is a friends to lovers trope full of fun, romance, and very relatable interactions and emotions. Evan struggles with the knowledge that his heart condition threatens any possibility of a long term relationship but Hannah is a woman determined to prove that nothing will stand in the way of happiness and love. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense. There are six Stone siblings with stories to tell-Luke, Evan, Adam, Hailey, Spencer and baby brother Tyler. We are reintroduced to several members of the Stone family including Aunt Julia and their father Warren, as well as Hannah and Polly’s co-workers and friends at Wild Child- Ramona and Mia. Gavin Knight of Knight security silently sits to the side while Mia tries her best to attract the quiet man’s attention. The world building focuses on the relationship between Hannah and Evan; Hannah’s need to run when life becomes overwhelming; the Fair Trade Foundation (aka Cocoa Bean Team) –where Evan and Adam Stone will lead in the sustainability of cocoa bean crops; and Evan’s health issues that threaten his relationship with the woman he loves. SWEET ESCAPE is a romantic journey; a provocative tale of heartbreak and love. The premise is encouraging and real; the romance is passionate and inspiring; the characters are dynamic and heartwarming. SWEET ESCAPE is a sweet, sultry and intense story where fate intervenes to bring to lonely hearts together for a lifetime.

It's impossible not to love a story that uses two of my favorite things as a lure. Sweet Escape is a decadent tale of guilty pleasures. Evan and Hannah pack on the heat with a scoop of heart on the side. Temptation must run in the Stone genes because these men can seduce a woman with just one look. Evan is the poster boy for broken hearts. He doesn't trust his own not to let him down, so why should he trust anyone else. Hannah is a runner, she hits the road when to escape issues that are hard for her to face. When responsibility comes calling can she live up to the challenge? Spicy romance delivers a sugary treat in the form of Sweet Escape by Nina Lane.
