This early symphony is thought to have been composed in 1770 during Mozart's first visit to Milan. The date of the first performance remains unknown but a Milan venue during the period of the visit is certainly possible. Composed in the Italian overture style, the symphony's three movements are organized in two distinct sections with the opening 'allegro' follwed by an 'andante' with no break.
