Jake Stone has always been an outsider, even in his hometown. As the misfit son of the town drunk and a descendant of Fortune’s mysterious founders, he’s spent his whole life not living up to expectations. So when Apple Woodman comes poking her pert little nose around his business, trying to sniff out juicy bits for a book she’s writing on the town’s history, he decides he’s had enough. He’ll give her the answers, at a price: one piece of clothing for every question. If the town’s good girl librarian wants the dirt on this bad boy then she’s going to have to bare all to get it.
Nothing is going to stop Apple from achieving her dream of being a published author, not even surly Jake Stone. She’s got a hefty advance to make good on and a looming deadline, and the last bit of crucial information she needs is being held hostage by the infuriating man. But Apple believes in equality between the sexes and she’s not going to be the only one playing along—he’s going to have to take it all off too. They’re only clothes; it’s not like they’re baring their hearts. Right?

It's been a while since I read the first book in the series where I was first introduced to Jack and Apple. They've never been anything but friends, but they sure know how to push each others buttons. I was really surprised that no one in town realized that all of their bickering was actually them fighting their feelings and all that chemistry between them. Things start to change between them when her quest for Jake to give her his family's history turns into a game of strip questions. Apple is a forever kind of girl who dreams of the perfect husband and lots of babies, while Jake is known for jumping from one girl to the next. Apple is the only woman who has ever made him want more, but his family secrets may cost him the woman he loves. There was fun and laughter, hot and sexy moments, and lots of feels in this one. I enjoyed coming back to Fortune, Colorado and the Bachelors of Fortune. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.
Fortune, Colorado is a place that I'll have to visit more often. Ms. Seasons gifts readers with standout performances, unique characters and a town that is as mysterious as it is endearing. My favorite character is Apple like her name, she can be tart, sweet and full of surprises, but she never strays far from being true to herself. Jake is the keeper of many secrets and unpleasant memories. His spirit may be troubled but his bad boy rep disguises a man with a lot of love to give. Talking Dirty throws out some serious shade in order for an important point to be made. Jake and Apple refreshing blend of emotions that master naughty, inspiring and funny.
