Sri Nerode is first introduced as the residential leader of the Yogoda headquarters on Mount Washington in Los Angeles, California in the May-June 1929 edition of East-West magazine (p. 40). He had previously published in that magazine in 1928 while Center director for a brief time in Detroit. His activity there encouraged a female devotee to join Paramahansa Yogananda's circle; she became a stalwart disciple of Yogananda's named with the monastic title Durga Ma.
