About the Author

Ron Morton is a professor in the department of Geological Sciences at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he has taught courses in introductory geology, physical volcanology, Precambrian geology, economic geology, earth science for teachers, and people and volcanoes. His main areas of research are volcanic rocks and mineral resources of the Canadian Shield. Ron is also the author of “Music of the Earth” (Perseus, 1996, 2004), with Carl Gawboy “Talking Rocks” (University of Minnesota Press, 2000), with Judy Gibbs “A Walking Guide to the Superior Hiking Trail” (Rockflower Press, 2006), with Carl Gawboy “Ancient Earth and the First Ancestors: A Cultural and Geological Journey (Rockflower Press, 2011), and “A Road Guide to Highway 61: Beaches, Overlooks, Waysides, and Short Walks” (Rockflower Press, 2012).

Steve Morse is a sometimes wandering naturalist, sculptor, and stained glass artist who has spent most of his career working in biology. He started with a position as an “Amoeba Farmer” raising protozoan, algal, and small invertebrate cultures for a company that supplied schools and universities. Steve holds bachelor’s degrees in Art and in Fisheries Science. He moved on to working with lake trout, lake herring, and other fish on Lake Superior for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, along with inland crayfish studies and sturgeon radio telemetry. He considers working outdoors and working with living things to be essential ingredients in a job, and he has been lucky enough to have these elements in his career most of his life. He was born with a frog in his pocket and mud between his toes, and he hopes to die under the stars.

She scowls as the trees grow thin, and leaps to the ground. After a moment, she leaps at the wall and scrabbles up a ways, pulling herself atop a ledge. Struggling to maintain her footing, she tries to ignore the strange creatures while she looks for another ledge. Desperate to get over the obstacle, she flings herself furiously at one of the creatures, tearing her hind claws into its side, then springs off the terrified beast and onto the top of the cliff.

Scrutinizing the stones, she co<_>cked her head at the debacle, a scowl claiming her expression. "Great. Just - Just great." She set a tentative paw on a first sturdy-looking area, shifting it about experimentally. Evidentally satisfied, she repeated the cautious step continuously, therefore scaling the wall at an excruciatingly slow and arduous pace. No matter how many times she reminded herself not to look down, her cold azure gaze inspected the area below every once in a while. And each time she would shudder and pause, tearing her gaze away from her ultimate doom to watch as the group she sttaggled deliberaty behind drew farther away. After a few silent moments of reassuring thoughts and deep breathing, she continued.

A young cat leaped out at the cats, baring her teeth. But as she saw their size, she began to tremble with fear. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" She said shyly, clearly terrified.

(Back! I') hoping this is the place where all opc's travel.) Thistlestar's stomach growled in hunger, and he seeked out Wolfclaw, who never seemed to get enough time to hunt. "Care to hunt with me, Wolfclaw?"
"Sure!" Wolfclaw exclaimed. "I'm not to familiar this this land or its prey, by the way. I doubt anyone is. Let's just hope there is prey."
Resting her head on her paws, Icemist thought about her mate, Deercreek, who dissapeared (quit rp.) She wondered if he would ever come back to SandClan's destroyed camp to find everyone gone.
Flowernose felt empty and unprepared without a den stocked with fresh herbs and poultices at her paws. She scavenged the edges of their temperary settlement for any healing herb at all just to keep her prepared.
Halfnight's ear still was throbbing with each heartbeat. She knew there was nothing else anyone could do for it.
Gingersky casually groomed his fur, shyly avoiding eye contact from any of the foreign Clans.

Lets go!" He ushered the cats to the mountain, and began to climb with them
HORSE)) Spottedpine looked around at the other cats calmly.
Bluekit fell asleep while being carried
NORTH)) Flowerpaw rpse unsteadily, tears drying on her fur. Knowing Missing would probably be coming for him, he kept a sharp eye out to stay out of sight, though kept his father in his own sight. If he was spotted, he'd surely get a lecture about how he should go back with Arg<3>et blah blah things like that. But that simply wouldn't do for his plan. No, it just wouldn't do at all.

Echoflight and Lionspeed both smiled. "It's really nice to meet you both!" Echoflight meowed to Emberglow and Hollypaw. Lionspeed was staring at the huge wall in front of them. "We have to climb that?" He asked no one specificaly. (Wow Lilywolf. Doesn't sound very good at all. Anyways, my nook had to charge, I got a new book for the nook, and friend came over. I've been busy today...)

Okay, I'm grounded but I'll be able to post occasionally. I want everyone to get through this challenge right now, get through day three and four, and tomorrow finish day five pronto because tomorrow is day six for the Pact Clans. Follow whatever Jay and thw other Praetors say. Jay, I recommend talking to Lily and telling her day seven, not six because it won't work. I'll try to be on tomorrow but NO promises.

She looked up at the wall in disbelief. "We have to pass that?!" she muttered. Since she thought it was phsically impossible, she looked around for an easier way, but to no avail. Sighing, she gently put one of her paws on the wall. Soon she was on the wall, starting to get the hang of it when she was going too fast. She placed a paw on the wrong part of the wall and wobbled. Then she used her tail to get her balence back and climed to the end of the wall.

"Curses," she grumbled. She found a low crag in the rock and cautiously put her paw on it, balancing her weight on er hind legs. She traced a path of crags up the wall, and leapt, using them. She was near the top when her hindpaw gave way. She yowled slightly, and made a jump. She grasped the top with her front paws, scrambling to get up.

He slowly unseathed his claws and climbed up. The climb was long and hard, but he finally made it to the top.
Icelily scrambled to the top. "The clans passed through here." She panted. "We should keep going." The two padded on.

Finally scaling the wall, she realizes the other cats passed already. She sighs and sits down, but then hears some voices. She looks down to see goldenstar and bailey. When they reach the top, she pads over. "Your horseclans leader right?" Im hexfur, of rainclan." She looks at bailey. "Is that another horseclanner?"
