ALL SHE WANTS IS VENGEANCE
Disguised as a man, Josephine O'Malley strolls into a Dodge City mercantile with one thing on her mind: to even the score with the man who murdered her husband. What she doesn't count on is Fletcher Collins-the handsome and irresistible new marshal in town-bursting through the doors of the mercantile with guns blazing...and a plan to stop her from pulling the trigger.
HE ONLY WANTS TO PROTECT HER
There's a new marshal in town, but he's fighting inner demons of his own. Fletcher Collins is a man who has known his share of heartache, and when he finds himself apprehending a gorgeous widow for murder, he begins to re-evaluate what it means to be a lawman. But if Fletcher is going to keep the widow out of prison-and figure out what's really going on in Dodge-he's going to have to learn how to follow his gut. Unfortunately his gut is telling him that Josephine O'Malley is exactly the kind of woman who could make him break all the rules...

This is my second cowboy read by Julianne McLean . Have read all her regency. This one is a great read that I'm not Surprised at . It's a rework for an original that the author wrote with a publisher . Josephine is in town dressed as a man going after a man she knows killed her husband . Josphaine has her son Leo to think out . Josephine is dressed as a man going to gun down Zeb . She goes into his store ready but the Marshall Fletcher interrupts her . Fletcher sees everything through a window . Thing with Fletcher is even though he is a Marshall he has never shot at anyone . In the skirmish Josephine accentually shots at Fletcher and when he is out cold Zeb shots her . Fletcher is out trying to find out who was the shooter in Zeb store . He questions Josephine but she avoids the questions . Josephine is wondering how she will convince Fletcher that Zeb is her husbands killer and Zeb is after her and her son Leo . This is a story with many levels and surprises. Grab it and fall in love with the marshals story
This is a reworked and re-edited version of one of the books Julianne MacLean wrote early in her career. I have read other books from the author and was looking forward to reading this book. While the book is part of the Dodge City Brides series, it is a standalone book and does not end in a cliffhanger. Fletcher is the new Marshal in Dodge City. Josephine is a widow out for revenge after her husband is murdered. They unexpectedly meet his first night on the job. Can she trust him to find out the truth of what happened and bring about justice? The author did a good job in reworking this book and updating it with more believable and real emotions, though events move very quickly. I enjoyed reading this updated version even though historic romance is not my usual reading genre. There are additional books in the original Dodge City Brides series and the author is updating them as well. I look forward to reading more about these couples on the Kansas prairie.
Take two people, one planning to commit a crime and the other sworn to prevent crime or bring those that commit it to justice, shake very well and you have an amazing story from Julianne Maclean. This book is so well written that it kept me glued to the pages until the wee hours. In fact, I couldn't see to read anymore and had to go to sleep. But I was up early and finished my book. And I loved every minute of it. The story just flows out, grabs you and holds you in its grip. I am so looking forward to the 3rd one on this series and I hope that Julianne decides to continue writing more in this series. Really most enjoyable! An ARC copy of the book was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.
She will do what she must to protect her son, unfortunately the new Marshal has vowed to uphold the law no matter what the cost. When Fletcher is shot on his first day on the job, nothing is going to stop him from finding the man responsible, except of course for the beautiful widow he can’t stop thinking about. This is a fast paced historical western read with lots of drama and suspense, this is the 2nd book in the Dodge City Brides Series but it can be read as a stand-alone. The story is fast paced and the chemistry between Josephine and Fletcher is wonderful. Sweet and suspenseful read!
