On her fifth birthday, a little girl named Mackenzie magically became the Princess of Number Ten and proclaimed her new name as Tenzie Mackenzie. About the Author

When Patricia McMillan was a first grade teacher, she made up many games to promote the basic skills she taught every day. While waiting outside for the carpools to arrive at pick-up time, students played a game called "Tenzies!" If a license plate contained any two digits that added up to the number ten, the first child to call "Tenzies!" won a small prize. That game led to others. And now, years later, it has evolved into a story about a little "princess" captivated by the number ten. Silly situations involving numbers are a continuation of this teacher/author's mission to make math merry.
