From the moment Lorenzo Valdez saved Angie Torres from being crushed by an angry mule, he knew she was trouble. Having rolled her out of harm's way, he can't deny that he is intrigued by the soft, delicate woman, especially when she races away without telling him her name.

Angie serves as a spy to the Texians, aiding them in the Texas Revolution. Her desire for the enemy soldier's arms around her goes against everything she has been fighting for. However, their fate is intertwined and they are forced to work together.

While Angie tries to protect her heart, Lorenzo must overcome his own demons. With the Texians on the verge of attacking San Antonio, Angie and Lorenzo have to fight not only for their right to love one another, but also for their lives and the future of Texas.

A historical romance that takes place in San Antonio Texas. Full of mystery and intrigue that will keep you turning the pages. Loved Angie and her sister, both strong headed women who are supplying food to the Texians. Lorenzo is a convict soldier. When Angie and Lorenzo meet, there is no denying the chemistry between them. Loved the banter between the two, had me laughing out loud. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I am not a big historical reader but I did enjoy the story.

Texas Conquest (Texas Legacy Book 1) by Holly Castillo This is Lorenzo Valdez and Angie Torres' story. A historical romance with lots of mystery and twists and not knowing who can be trusted. I enjoyed Lorenzo and Angie's story and loved the banter and chemistry between Lorenzo and Angie. The supporting characters added to the story. The story was enjoyable but felt a little long. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this historical novel, set in San Antonio, Texas as the Texians fight the Mexicans for Independence. Angelica Torres and her sisters run a small kitchen by day, by night they do what they can to help the Texians fight for their freedom. When her determination to help brings her into contact with Mexican Army officer Lorenzo Valdez, she knows she should hate him, but can't quite seem to. When she finds they are on the same side and they have to work together, they have to find a way to trust each other despite their secrets and the past Lorenzo can't forget or share. The Torres sisters are strong characters, determined not to let the fact that they are female stop them from fighting for the future of Texas. Lorenzo is definitely flawed, but also determined to fight and die for the cause. Incidents in his past have convinced him that he can trust no one, especially a female. Determined not to care about Angie, he is fighting a losing battle. This historical novel covers events I am not as familiar with, and the author successfully kept me interested in the story and how the characters fit into it. This is the first in a series, and I hope the next two will focus on the remaining Torres sisters and how they continue with their fight for an independent Texas. **I received an advanced copy via NetGalley from the publisher. My review is voluntary.

Texas Conquest is a historical romance that takes place during the Texas battle for independence at the Alamo. At the heart of the story are two women striving to supply food to starving Texan fighters while maintaining a small diner-like business fed by the Mexican troops who dine there. Angie and Olivia run their small business always alert to any information they can gleam from the dining men that they can then inform the Texans. Trouble for Angie starts when she meets Lorenzo, a Mexican soldier. He is charming and so handsome and Angie tries to stop her emotions from getting in the way and thwarting all her and Olivia’s efforts. Angie walks a wavy line between love and honor as she continues to help the Texans evermore with the dangerous threat of discovery by Lorenzo. But, Lorenzo has some secrets of his own that will change everything.
