Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath

He’s fallen for a woman . . .

Anxious to meet her soon-to-be husband, Dallas Leigh, for the first time, mail-order bride Amelia Carson is en route to Fort Worth, Texas. When she steps off the train and locks eyes with her betrothed, she immediately feels drawn to him. But the cowboy standing before her isn’t Dallas. Instead, Dallas’s brother Houston has been sent to accompany her on the three-week journey to the ranch where she’ll begin her new life.

Who belongs to another . . .

The war Houston Leigh fought has left him with visible scars, a daily reminder of his cowardice on the battlefield. Denying his intense attraction to Amelia, he is determined to deliver her untouched, as promised. But during their long dangerous trip, he can’t help but admire her inner strength and fearlessness. And when she looks at him—as if she can see beyond his scarred face and read his innermost thoughts—he loses his heart to her. Now as they near the ranch, Houston must choose to remain loyal to his brother—or find the courage to fight for the woman he’s convinced is his destiny . . .

About the Author

Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA’s prestigious RITA®. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists.

This is my first time feeling the need to praise a book so much and sharing why i love it so that others might hopefully read it and fall in love too. This book is a reread for me and just like the first time i read it i fell in love with Amelia and Houston. Its the perfect love story about 2 people who dont want to love but fall in love because they are soulmates. They complete one another and make eachother better. Thats true love to me. Houston was the perfect man with more emotional scars than physical but with Amelia his transformation was beautiful. I had tears in my eyes numerous times and that has NEVER happened before!! I love houston and amelias love. Best book ever! Love love love!!! Please read it and im sure you will love it too!!

Best in the trilogy---and they're all good....................................................................... Dallas is injured and cannot go pick up his mail order bride. So he send Houston his badly scarred and emotionally bankrupt brother to go pick up Amelia. After 4 weeks on the trail together Amelia is saying "what scars?" and it turns out Houston has a little more emotion left in his account. But whats a brother to do? After all this is his brothers intended. !Highly recommended

This was the first book I read from Lorraine Heath and loved it. I could not put it down. It was very romantic and sweet. Houston is very special and Amelia can see him beyond his scars, she can see him as he truly is.

This was truly a book I couldn't put down. About halfway through I downloaded books 2 and 3 of the series about the Leigh brothers and only wished there had been a couple other brothers for Lorraine Heath to write about.

The descriptions of the trip from Fort Worth to the ranch were so vivid I could imagine the beauty and loneliness of the Texas landscape. I loved how the relationship between Amelia and Houston grew gradually, each gaining the other's trust. Amelia and her questions were funny, but they also helped Houston open up about his past and his brothers. While they were both damaged by the Civil War, they found healing and acceptance with each other. I'm eager to see what happens with Houston's brothers, Dallas and Austin.

This book was on a list of best romance novels and I have to agree that it is. The character development is strong, you really understand why these two people find each other & why they need each other. I enjoyed thst the older brother did not have to be "evil" for the story to work. He is as much a victim of circumstance and a product of his life as Houston and Amelia are. At times the things that happen to Amelia and Houston on their journey seem too extreme, the author makes it work and holds your interest. Trying to decide whether I'll read the other 2 brother's stories (most people say this one is the best of the series), but if you have not picked this one up, you should give it a try.

I loved the way amelia and houston fell in love but i didnt like the way amelia liked the way dallas kissed her and touched her. She should have been put out by it because she was in love with his brother. I wasnt crazy about this series because of that kind of thing. Heaths series on the brooding easton brothers was way better. I liked it so much that i gave the last book 5 stars. Phyl p

Always a sucker for the underdog as Houston was in this story. But he found Amelia & true love. Can't wait to read Dallas' story.
