“I know it’s hard to watch TV or movies and idolize celebrities with very small waistlines and seemingly unrealistic appearances. I get it—because I do it, too! As a professional dancer, I need to train for over six hours every day when I’m performing. Now that my schedule has changed, I’ve created The 5-6-7-8 Diet and workouts to keep me fit, trim, and brimming with energy. The goal isn’t to be a size two—it’s to move, laugh, and love.” —KYM JOHNSON
Kym Johnson understands personal transformation. As a Dancing with the Stars professional, she has taken celebrities from Jerry Springer to Donny Osmond and, in just weeks, turned them into ballroom superstars. What is The 5-6-7-8 Diet? It’s simple—5 servings of protein, 6 servings of fruits and vegetables, 7 servings of anti-inflammatory foods, and 8 glasses of water. It’s the ideal balance for regulating blood sugar, fueling your body, and jump-starting your weight loss. 5-6-7-8 is also the dancer’s cue—it means, “Let’s get to it.” It’s time to transform your approach to health and wellness, with refreshed confidence, simple exercises, and a diet plan that exchanges traditional calorie counting for a side of protein-packed pancakes—and unexpected romance. Whether or not you’re a celebrity, The 5-6-7-8 Diet is your path to a happy, healthy life.

I purchased the 5678 Diet over a week ago and just finished my first week on the meal plan. The principals of the diet are simple: protein, vegetables, water and anti-inflammatory foods. The book is full of recipes for meals, snacks and even teas - along with a two week plan and shopping lists! The plan is not gluten or dairy free, but it is easily adapted with a few minor changes. Instead of merely saying no fried food, hydrogenated oils, etc, she details what those foods do to your body. The book is a great read with life stories and Dancing with the Stars behind the scenes scoop. Several of Kym's friends and former dance partners contribute to the book along with nutrition and fitness experts. The plan is 1500 calories per day rich with fruits and vegetables which makes the plan easy to stick to. (The volume of food is surprising - there are some meals I cannot finish!) And if you want something sweet, there are tons of flourless pancakes and an amazing Sweet Comfort Tea that tastes like the best cocoa you have ever had!
Great book, easy to follow nutrition and food suggestions. Plus it has the best quick work outs. It's so easy when you have just a few minutes to do the ab or butt workout. Delicious healthy recipes. A must get book for anyone who wants to get in better shape. Plus Kym put in some great stories about her life and romance with Robert. I love it!
Love Kym and love the 5678 diet! I can't believe how much you are allowed to eat a day (1500 cals). With personal stories and contributions from her celebrity friends, Kym makes this a really relatable and personal read.
