 This book is a great read. This book reminded me of everything I believe in about the body's need to rest and not constantly be working day and night to process food. But, I also believe that you should eat better when you do eat. That is why I'd also recommend that people read another book that I saw floating around on BN called “The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution.” I bought it thinking what more could yet another diet book tell me about losing weight, but it proved to be an eye opener about eating healthier. The chapter in “The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution” on what is in the foods that we eat every day is shocking. I'll never eat anything with “carmine” in it again. I already gave up hot dogs and now I understand why. If you are serious about losing weight, consider both books.

The 8 Hour Diet works on the premise that you eat healthy foods for 8 hours of a day and for 16 hours you do not eat. What a great reminder that the all day munch fest is not necessary. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. I appreciated that I could eat foods I like rather than spending excessive amounts of time and money preparing meals that seem fussy or too much trouble. The power foods and fat busters were easy to incorporate into the day's plan with choices that I like as well. I found 8 minutes of exercise in the morning completely manageable even for a slouch like myself, no need for excuses with this one. I found it no problem to stop eating for 16 hours, however the book offers a vast number of suggestions to distract yourself if you find it difficult. At the end of the first week I am down 1 1/2 pounds. A reasonable rate of weight loss for minimal changes to my life. I recommend The 8 Hour Diet because it makes sense and is easy to follow.

About the concept...I totally believe in this. I have long known that for myself, if I don't have a 14 hour fast, I will gain weight. The proof is in the 13 pounds I have put on in the last year. I went off of my normal routine and now I'm battling. If I can do 14 hours, I can do 16.  About the book....Easy and understandable with a couple of giggles thrown in. I didn't like how he presented the Atkins Diet in” 8 hour Atkins”. Atkins is not all meat all the time. However, I think that this is good to try for people who struggle to follow a food restricted plan. .

Lots of information, this could help alot of people who have trouble sticking to a diet. I have 14% body fat and im content with that. I will however do this for all the other health benifits.

Great descriptions of the science behind the concept. Tried it for a week and have lost 4 lbs. First day was hard but then it got easier. I have T2D and was worried about its effect on my blood sugars, but they are actually better!

Time will tell. But I have just finished reading the book and I am giving it a shot. The arguments for intermittent fasting seem reasonable, and I need to lose some pounds. I am ready to give the 8- Hour Diet a serious try. Will update in a month.

I wanted to believe this could work for me. After one week I hadn't lost a pound. During the second week I lost a pound, then gained it back the next day. The second week I lost a pound, then gained it back. The only reason I stuck with the plan longer was that it seemed to quell my cravings. I found the plan easy to stick to. But after 4 weeks of sticking to the plan ( with only 2 days of not eating on the plan - they say you only have to do it 3 days a week and still lose weight)my net weight loss was zero. Maybe this will work for some people, but I guess the old adage is true: Anything that sounds too good to be true probably is too good to be true. Some nice healthy recipes in the book, but plan doesn't work at all for weight loss.

After the many pages of biology class you have to read, you finally get the entire diet which is basically eat anything you want for 8 hours then "fast' for the remaining 16 to allow your body to feed off it's fat reserves. While I did watch my calories, I gained 4 pounds! I gave it 1 star because I enjoy Mr. Zinczenko's "Eat This, Not That" books and this finally made me stop the insanity of looking for a quick fix.

I have following this diet for a week - only eating during the 8 hour window, eating the power foods, doing the short HIIT exercise and I gained 3 pounds! Going back to Weight Watchers. That is the only thing that works for me.
