The 90-Minute Marriage Miracle is an excellent and effective guide to a happy marriage. Author Jeff Forte brings us exactly what we need to know to have a fulfilling and positive relationship. Forte breaks down what does and does not work in a relationship while providing the information necessary to make our marriage last. Forte’s no nonsense approach does not allow for misconception or superficial results, you have to be committed, have courage and be willing to make changes. Don’t let that intimidate you though. Forte is right along with you giving you all the support and tools you need to succeed. He even provides great tips for reigniting the passion in your relationship. I highly recommend it!

“The 90-Minute Marriage Miracle” is a refreshing self-help book that doesn’t pull any punches in its advice to improve your relationship—it manages to be both conversational and friendly while also not sugar-coating the steps each partner needs to take for a better marriage.  The book is a mix of two things—problems in marriage and a dissection of what causes them, and real-life anecdotes from the author’s counseling sessions. It starts with a hard question—do you really WANT to fix your marriage—and many of the things the book tells you to do won’t be easy. For instance, a focus on attention and appreciation, and weathering your partner’s “tropical storm” of emotion might be hard in a marriage where you’re too focused on yourself rather than your partner, as many people are. The author stresses, though, that with a vision of what your relationship could be, you can succeed and have a happy relationship that brings happiness to your overall life.  That’s actually what I liked best about the book—that the focus is on a strong, healthy marriage that can be the underpinning of a happy life and that over your lifetime your love can get stronger, rather than declining. That’s a positive message and puts into perspective the things you need to invest into marriage; I also liked that the book gives concrete advice for avoiding things like benign neglect, assuming bad intentions, and misunderstanding communication. The chapters are broken up into topics, which makes the information easy to digest and read at your own pace, and there are also questions to ask yourself that function as an exercise—delving deep into your marriage and what makes it tick (or what’s making it implode).  I would recommend “The 90-Minute Marriage Miracle” to readers who are in troubled marriages but are committed to making it work, as well as to readers who are in solid marriages but are looking to make improvements—there is advice for both sets in this guide.
