The Accidental Mail Order Bride by Ruth Ann Nordin

Eric Johnson’s real mail order bride shows up later than expected, and she quickly learns he is already married. Now Allie Jones is stuck in a small Colorado town with no way to leave. She must either marry the only suitable bachelor or risk being sold to the saloon’s owner to be one of the soiled doves. Seeing she has no real choice, she agrees to marry the bachelor.

Rumored as being a monster by the people in town, Travis Martin is content to live alone, sheltered in the wooded area of the mountainside. The last thing he expects is a preacher when there’s a knock on the door. With great hesitation, he agrees to the marriage. He can’t confine such a beautiful young lady to the saloon, but he knows the marriage won’t be a happy one for her, not when she could have had someone so much better.

So the best thing he can do is keep his distance and leave her alone. She, however, can't help but be intrigued by her new husband. Is he the ugly beast the people in town claim, or is there something beautiful worth loving just beneath the surface?

About the Author

Ruth Ann Nordin has written seventy romances, ranging from Regencies to historical westerns to contemporaries. She plays with other genres from time to time, but her first love is romance. She has been happily married for eighteen years to a sweet and funny guy, and they have four sons, who are all taller than Ruth now that they're 12, 13, 14, and 16. The good thing is she doesn't need a ladder, and there's always someone to take care of a mouse that squeezes its way into her Montana home. She considers herself very lucky to have led such a charmed life. Being able to play with characters and create stories is just icing on the cake. Hopefully, she'll get to keep doing this many years to come.

This book sounded like a great story. I was really disappointed. Travis is a so shy he gets married from behind a door. Then it seems toward the end of the book, he is no longer that shy. I had to force myself to finish this book. Not what I expected.

Great story of Allie and Travis. I really enjoyed the story...after Allie got to know the type of person Travis is, without allowing her preconceived idea of who & what she thought he was from the Town's gossip. I enjoyed reading about previous characters (Phoebe and Abe; Eric and Caroline; even Carl in this book is much nicer than he was in the beginning of the series). Travis character grew from being shy of women to someone who really stood up for himself, and the girls. Great HEA. Now on to Carl's story. Happy Reading! Enjoy! *****vrnb*****

Nice interaction between Allie and Travis. I liked that she took the initiative in their relationship. Her determination to make Travis see that he's not the monster that others have made him out to be makes her a hero in my eyes. Travis impressed me with the changes he makes. He slowly lets go of his incorrect self perceptions and blossoms, all from the love and acceptance he sees from Allie. I love how he defends the two little girls from scrutiny and rumors. Adult read
