Though I've been exonerated through the Necromancer Trial, there are those who are convinced that I am a devil-woman who should be exiled, or worse, killed.

I'm trapped by the Laws of the Lost Texts. I can't simply buy a ticket to the train and leave. I have to endure the Bridal Auction and hope my newfound friend, Quade, will be able to purchase my hand in marriage. If he fails his bid, I will be married off to one of the Crats. I'd rather be declared Unclaimed and condemned to a life of servitude to the community.

All the while, the secret necromancer lurks in the shadows threatening to upturn my life and expose my true nature.

To finally have control over my own life, I may have to take the ultimate risk and escape over the wall into the Deadlands.

Just when you think Ilyse’s world couldn’t make your skin crawl any more, Rhiannon Frater gives it one more sadistic twist, followed by another and wraps it up in a barbed wire tale of evil, egos, and perverted power. THE ACCUSED DEAD may, at first glance, start out a little slow, over-wrought with dark, demented customs that are heart-piercing and anger inducing. BUT, as I slid into Ilyse’s life, the stacked-against-her deck she has been dealt, every excruciating event, it felt real. I felt her feelings, saw events through her eyes and understood so many of her actions. The Bridal Auction becomes one more thing for Ilyse’s people, her father and the Elders to torment and humiliate her with. If not for the few, unexpected allies she finds, even her own heart and determination wouldn’t be enough for her to survive as she discovers what powers she truly possesses and the truths about the Dead. Deliciously dark, torturously tense and emotionally gutting, Ms. Frater’s world is nothing short of a living nightmare. Fabulous world-building, tremendously strong character development, this is NOT your typical zombie read, but it may be one of your most intense!
