The Adventures of Captain Larry: The Adventures of Captain Larry
I want to dedicate this book to the man who showed me what it is to
be Chicago through and through. Johnny became a very good friend
of mine one of the best I ever had in my life. He was hard on me
sometimes, but over time, we became close and talked every day about
all points of our lives to one another. I felt that the man truly trusted
me, and I was lucky to have met a person like him. For him to get close
enough to me and show me that beyond the asshole on the inside,
there was a very loving, caring and big hearted man who would do
anything he could for the people he loved. He kept a very slow bar open
using his own money from his Chicago water department retirement
when things were not up to par, just to make sure that we, his adopted
family, had jobs. Partly in my opinion, it was for all of our benefits.
For those of us who needed the job, he kept it open, and for himself,
he enjoyed having our company. I honestly believe the man loved us
all like family. Johnny: I love you buddy, I will miss you and think
of you the rest of my life. I have so many stories of the days that You
and I spent together. The event of your death got me off my ass and
motivated me to write this book that I have had in my head for over a
decade now. I hope you are resting in peace dear friend, and thanks
again for believing in me and giving me all that you gave.
