Harper Higgins, art history professor and Vincent van Gogh scholar, doesn’t need a man. She needs an artist. Fast. The art show she’s counting on to secure her tenure is in trouble.

So when she collides with a ruggedly handsome man carrying a basket of violets on a rainy night in Boston, she thinks she’s found her miracle. Cynical, brooding ex-soldier Tom Stone can paint. And he’s quite good. He just needs Harper’s artistic touch.

But once she talks him into pretending he’s a long-lost descendant of van Gogh, the trouble really begins. As the art opening draws near, their identities—both real and imagined—hang in the balance. The student becomes the master as Tom teaches Harper that passion is its own work of art…

I can't believe I'm the first person to review this book. It was such a fun read. I pick up everythung this author writes and was once again glad I did. Her characters come alive and even though I know how these books will end (ummm. It is romance!), I have fun following along with the twistsand turns this author puts in. Can't wait to see the movie!

This is my first book by Teri Wilson and I must say I have become a fan of her fun, fast paced style. The Art of Us features Harper and Tom as modern update on the My Fair Lady trope. Harper is an art professor who needs an artist for an exhibit, when the original artist is arrested. She runs into Tom while walking her dog, aptly named Vincent. She doesn't realize he is a talented artist until he shows up at her part time job, teaching people to paint like the old masters. She convinces him to help her fool her boss in an effort to win tenure. Tom reluctantly agrees and soon is living with Harper. Soon their antagonistic relationship becomes real feelings that compliments each other. This was an unexpected treat that will thrill both the art and romance lover. I plan on looking up her other books! I was given a free copy for an honest review.

LOVED this story! Very well written! This book has everything - humor, angst, romance, tastefully done sex scenes - not too explicit but not too "sweet" either. I will be looking for more of Teri Wilson's books!

This story was such a delight to read. I loved the art theme and it almost made me wish that I could paint or at least join an art class. It was very well written with believable characters and just such a lovely romance story. It was like reading a painting. A delight to look at from first to last pencil stroke.

An emotion-filled story that will make you laugh and bring tears to your eyes. Harper Higgins is still trying to find her way in life, she loves art and painting, and wants to share that love. Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend, also an art critic, gave her first show a less than stellar review, so now all her hopes are pinned on winning the full-time professorship at the college where she teaches part-time. She figures she has it won with the Art exhibit she curating until the "artist" is arrested, leaving her with no show. When she finds out her dog walker can paint well, she hatches a plan and finally convinces him to go along with it. Tom, a war veteran, only wants to walk dogs and live on his boat. While in rehab, he discovered painting and spends his evenings painting as a way to forget. He definitely doesn't need to get involved with the crazy dog that ran him over, nor the dog's snooty owner. Tom finally agrees to the plan when he realizes he needs the money to winterize his boat, or he will be homeless. Both these characters are broken, in different ways, and are trying to find their way. When Harper's crazy plan brings them together, they slowly start to find their way and are able to think of someone other than themselves. This was an extremely well-written story. The characters make you root for them and the addition of the art information is interesting and not overwhelming. It fits the story and you don't feel like you are being taught. The biggest question is whether these two will find what truly makes them happy, and is it what they thought it would be? *I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is a wonderfully written story that is filled with emotion. It had me laughing and crying, both happy tears and sad. Tom began painting as a form of therapy to deal with the issues he brought home from Iraq. Never does he expect to share his pictures with anyone much less with an art professor looking to display them in a show. Harper is desperate to find an artist to showcase. She needs this show to secure her tenure. Once she convinces him to give it a shot things really start to get twisted!! This is definitely a book I would recommend.

"The Art of Us" by Teri Wilson is the story of Harper Higgins and Tom Stone, Harper is an art history professor and a Vincent van Gogh scholar who is trying to secure her tenure. At the moment she is in desperate need of an artist. Harper and Tom collide into one another on a rainy night. Well, actually Harper collides into Tom. Harper finds out that Tom can paint really well and thinks that she has found the artist that can help her secure her tenure. Their troubles really begin when Harper talks Tom into pretending he is a long-lost descendant of van Gogh. As the art show opening gets closer things get really confusing. I am not really into art so I wasn't sure that the book would keep my interest. Teri Wilson did a great job of getting the reader's attention right away and keeping it. She had me laughing at times and crying at times. This is a funny, sweet, and emotional story. The chemistry between Harper and Tom was so real. You could feel their emotions. I especially liked her dog Vincent. Vincent was a mess or more like it, he was making messes or getting into trouble. This is an excellent read! I look forward to reading other books by Teri Wilson; I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishing for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content.

Two completely opposite people brought together by their love of art. Harper Higgins is up for a promotion. The success of a scheduled an art show is what she is depending on to help her get the job. When her artist suddenly ends up in jail, she scrambles to find a replacement. She soon finds out Tom Stone, a man she recently met, is an artist and she asks him to show his paintings in her show. Harper fabricates details about Tom's background to make him sound more interesting to impress her boss. Against his better judgment, Tom decides to go along with it to help Harper. Tom, an ex-soldier who lives on a boat in Boston Harbor and walks dogs for extra money, learned to paint while recovering in the hospital from an injury he received in Iraq. He paints as a hobby to relax and to forget. He had no intentions of ever showing his work to anyone until Harper came along. Will Harper and Tom be able to keep up with the story long enough to pull off the art show? This is an interesting and informative book. I admit I didn't know much about art before reading this book. The premise and book cover intrigued me. I thoroughly enjoyed Harper and Tom's story. It was a memorable romance.

A beautifully written, emotional story that will have you laughing one minute, sad another and happy the next. Harper has a goal of becoming a tenured assistant art professor. She just needs to make the upcoming exhibition happen with no glitches. Tom is taking one day at a time. His past has been painful but hopefully the little things he is doing will brighten his future. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
