This is the continuing story of Richard and Dana.  We also learn about their friends, Michael and Carla.  Dana is writing a book and she researches the topic with her husband.  There is D/d, spanking, ageplay and other wonderful topics in this story.  We learn a lot more about Dana’s friend Carla in this book. Carla is going to marry Michael, but his Jewish family are not happy with the thought.  Of course, everyone has a HEA, but the journey is what’s exciting to read about.  I like how the author describes how Richard and Dana are so adventuresome in this story.  They try a little bit of anything.  Carla and Michael have to get past his family’s objections.  I give this story 4 stars.

K. Tyler: I was so happy to have another Shelly Douglas book to read. I’ve never been disappointed in her books. This was the story of Carla a high power real estate attorney who falls for a Michael who is a train psychologist who had a failed marriage because his wife decided she no longer wanted a DD relationship. Then he finds Carla who together they develop the type of relationship they both want but fear acceptance from their individual families. No fear, Carla’s best friend Dana who is in the lifestyle and writes novellas about the subject dabbles at reconciliation at the expense of her backside but decides her friend is worth it. The two get into trouble with respective partners and but cements the love and commitment they have for each other in the process

Friends that stick together and are truly there for each other. This story continues from The Author, but can read as a standalone story. Once again, it covers two couples, newlyweds, Richard and Dana McBride and their friends, Dr. Michael Cohen and Carla Campbell.  The story is strong on both couples and their domestic discipline, D/s lifestyles and situations affecting them including family issues of religious differences.  The story has explicit sex scenes, consensual spankings, voyeurism, anal play, medical play, age-play, but also adds BDSM elements and ménage scene written by the author for her latest erotic book.  It also has a HEA ending.

This was a really good sequel! I love it when the sequel can be a stand alone book as well. We get to hear more about the original characters as we learn about the new ones. There seemed to be plenty of love, romance, spankings and other little elements in this book, I just wish it had been a little longer. Seemed to end a bit too quick for me.

Dana and Richard share a marriage that includes DD and some occasional age-play elements. Their best friends, Carla and Michael, are now living together and beginning their dynamic of a DD and BDSM lifestyle. Michael’s family isn’t too happy when he announces he wishes to wed Carla since she isn’t Jewish. Despite initial misgivings, everything turns out in the end. This is the second book of a series in which Dana, an erotica author, explores her fantasies through her books with the intention of having her husband read them and discern that she wishes to explore her sexuality even deeper. Carla discovers that she is more fulfilled allowing Michael to be the only HOH in their lives and knows that Michael’s love and guidance is all she really needs. There are several spanking scenes as well as some sexual scenes. This is a short, easy read that I enjoyed. I did find the ending rather abrupt and found it a bit rushed feeling.

We still get to spend time with Dana and Richard but this time we get to focus on Dana's friends Carla and Michael.  We also get glimpse of Dana's new book interspersed through the story.   I really loved the main focus of Carla and Michael and the way they have so much to work through in their relationship not just with each other but also with their family.  For me I found the book glimpse to get in the way of the story just and bit and that is what lowered my rating from to 4 instead of 5.

3 ½ - 4 stars.  On the whole I liked the book.  There were some areas that seemed out of place or didn’t need to be a part of the story.  It was a love story with a happy ending.  This is kind of a spinoff from book 1, The Author.  It is a standalone through.   There is minimal age play.  There is anal play and anal and oral sex as well as sex before marriage.  The spankings are light and mostly by hand.  I didn’t buy that this was really D/s or D/D.  The characters were doing their own version I guess.   Dana never obeyed and Carla even less so.  Their men let them get away with it without much fuss.  It was a cute read about two people falling in love and getting married with steamy sex and spankings.
