About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

The lazy days of summer are coming to an end and for the Bear family that means a new school year is about to begin. And with this new academic term comes changes. Honey Bear is old enough to start nursery school. She's excited but a bit nervous as well. The anxiety isn't limited to Honey Bear. Brother and Sister Bear have their own set of worries. Will the classes be too hard? Will Honey be able to be away from her parents all day? Mama and Papa Bear assure them that all will be well by pointing them to Scripture. "As it says in the Bible," said Mama, "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.'" "That's Psalm 34:4," said Papa. The next day was the first day of school which brought about a lot of initial excitement. Eventually worry and anxiety began to creep in. After school the kids settled down to do their homework. The unease from earlier returned and Papa Bear noticed. "I know schoolwork can be tough," he said. "But remember, you can turn to God for strength and guidance. Let's pray together." I don't think there is a Berenstain Bears book that I don't like. But this book, School Time Blessings, has to be one of my new favorites. Common fears that are contained in a new school year are addressed and Scripture is used to calm those fears! What better way can we arm our children to face what lies ahead of them? If you've got a kiddo that's about to embark on a new school year this would be a great story to read to them. You can then discuss with them what some of their concerns for the new year may be. I look forward to reading it with my grands that are about to start a new year of learning! I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

“The Berenstain Bears School Time Blessings” was sent to me by Zonderkidz - a division of Zondervan Publishing – free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. “School Time Blessings” is another children’s picture book, in the Berenstain Bears collection. Mike Berenstain took over for his mom and dad in writing and illustrating this series. I love the Berenstains, and have been reading them since I was a little girl. I read them to my boys when they were little. And, now I read them to my grandchildren. I look forward to the day when my grandbabies read them to their own children. They have always taught good manners and morals, and now they include God’s Word in them. They also include questions to talk about and ways to put what they’ve taught into action. In “School Time Blessings” the cubs are a little nervous about starting back to school. Mama and Papa teach them that they can ask God for help and guidance. They also learn to help each other. I really like this book and would recommend it to young readers and those who read to and teach them.

Every kid is excited a a little nervous when venturing back to school that first week in the fall. Some things are the same, but a new teacher, and harder classes can be time of insecurity for kids. Mike addresses these issues in this book as Brother and Sister head back to school. Even Honey Bear is heading to school this year, and for her it is the first time being away from Mama and Papa. When the parents notice that the cubs are not truly excited about the new school year, they talk with their kids and help them express what they are feeling. I appreciated the fact that the parents didn't just talk with their kids, but also showed the cubs some Scripture that they could focus on to remind them that God is always with them. I thought that the book provided a great way to talk with kids about their fears and to point them to Jesus. ***I receieved this book free from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

“School Time Blessings” by Mike Berenstain teaches children about casting their anxieties on the Lord. I recently cuddled up on the couch with my four-year-old niece, and we read stories. We started with “No Girls Allowed” by Stan and Jan Berenstain – a Berenstain Bear book from my childhood. After that book, we read “School Time Blessings.” I find that the first generation of Berenstain Bear books focus on having a thorough storyline, and the new books focus on applying a spiritual insight. Both are good. “School Time Blessings” seems to have more spiritual references than some of Mike Berenstain’s other books do. When we came to the first mention of God, my niece asked, “are these Sabbath books?” That made me smile. I’m glad that Mike Berenstain has made his books “Living Lights” stories. I quietly told my niece that we can read about God any day, and we finished the story. “School Time Blessings” offers everything Mike Berenstain’s other books do – vibrant illustrations, a Bear Country lesson, and a kid-friendly story. I recommend this book to others. The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookSneeze®. I was not required to write a positive review.

The Berenstain Bears School Time Blessings by Mike Berenstain is a wonderfully cute book for kids! It’s back-to-school time in Bear Country but the cubs are nervous about the new challenges to come. Mama and Papa Bear remind their cubs that prayer and God’s love are always there to guide them and that they will always support them no matter the challenge. While my kids are homeschooled they enjoy learning what it would be like to go to school through the bear cubs. This is a terrific book to help ease anxiety about going back to school. The Berenstain Bears School Time Blessings is filled with beautiful illustrations and is such a fun book to read. My kids enjoy reading this before bed and love that we have a new Berenstain Bears book to add to our collection! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.
