The Best And Worst Of Times

"The Best And Worst Of Times" is a compilation of 9 poems that touch on: my childhood experience of the Rhodesian bush war; the loss of my Dad in an ambush on the farm, during the dissident/Gukurahundi era in Matabeleland (after Rhodesia became Zimbabwe); my experience of having to live and work in other countries due to economic hardship at home; the incredible unity of Zimbabweans as they stood as one in opposition to the 37 year long dictatorship of Robert Mugabe. The final poem is "Zimbabwe's Freedom Day" - a day I was fortunate enough to be a part of, in Harare, Zimbabwe. This e book of poems is utterly patriotic. As the very first poem makes utterly clear, I love the land of my birth. I loved Rhodesia; and I love Zimbabwe.

About the Author

I am a poet and photographer and have written poetry since I was very young. Most of my poetry is about life in Africa, the continent I call home. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, I am aware that Zimbabweans have been scattered to the far ends of the earth, due to political and economic hardships here at home. Many of these displaced Zimbabweans relate to the word-pictures I paint of "home" and have asked me to publish my work. Child of Africa is my first e book. More will follow.
