About the Author

Gabriel Fitzmaurice, born in 1952 in Moyvane, Co Kerry, Ireland, is a retired teacher, principal, poet, broadcaster, writer, translator, singer, and raconteur. Author of over forty books, including poetry collections in English and Irish, as well as children's verse, he has been compared to Burns for his insight and lyricism. A former chair and literary advisor of Listowel Writers' Week, he hosts his own show on Kerry Radio and is a committee member of Éigse Michael Hartnett.

Gabriel Fitzmaurice is a renowned poet, broadcaster, writer, translator, singer, and raconteur from Moyvane, Co Kerry. A retired principal, he has been called "poetry's answer to John B Keane" and has authored over forty books, including poetry collections in English and Irish, children's verse, and translations. He hosts a show on Kerry Radio, is a former chair and literary advisor of Listowel Writers' Week, and has represented Ireland at the European Festival of Poetry. Fitzmaurice is also a musician and singer who frequently broadcasts on Irish radio and television.
