The Black Stallion Legend by Walter Farley

Alec Ramsey has fled Hopeful Farm in order to alleviate his grief over Pam’s sudden death. He and the Black are aimlessly wandering through the Arizona desert when they hear an amazing Native American legend: The end of the world is near, but help is promised from a rider on a black horse.
Alec shrugs off the wild tale–until disaster strikes from the sky. Suddenly the fate of an entire native tribe is in his hands . . . and the mighty Black is faced with a challenge greater than any race!

Being a rather sentimental person, this book had me in tears by the end of the first chapter. In this book, the whole thing is kicked off by the loss of Alec's fiace. Mr. Farley really let his own loss of a loved one show through in this book (actually, Alec's fiance was based on Farley's own deceased daughter). Anyway, Alec puts the Black in a trailer and drives out to the south west. He lets the Black run off on his own, and Alec himself seems to be getting suicidal. Then he meets a native american boy, and realizes that his tribe needs help. Eventually he is reunited with the Black, and comes to terms with the death of his girl, and comes back to civilization. The book is fulfilling in that Alec has finally become a full grown man, strong enough to face his hurts, but still has that boyish love for life. A good, albeit wistful, end to the series.

This is a really different 'Black Stallion' book. Alec Ramsey's fiance is killed, and he loads up the Black, truck, and trailer almost subconsciously and drives until he can't drive any longer. When he stops in the desert, a Native American boy says he and the Black must lead the boy's people, and before long the tribe, Alec and the Black are hurtled into a world of intrigue and dark, dark evil. Very enjoyable book, but mystical and almost scary, different from the other books. This is not recommended for anyone under 14 or who doesn't like scary books.

This book is very interesting, but really weird. It is the last book of the black stallion series that has to do with the black and alec and other people. It is also sad.

Sure, it's a little strange, but the story is good. Pam dies and so Alec drives off to the southwest to try to forget about her. He ends up helping a native tribe through a giant string of catastrophes, just as their prophecy said he would.

When I was fourteen I got 'hooked' on the wonderful stories about 'The Black' and Alec Ramsay. This was a wonderful ending to a long line of suspense and mysteries. I highly recommend this book if you love horses AND if you just want to 'live' in a great story.... The legend is quite interesting and the way The Black and Alec tie into it was interesting.

Falconclaw hid in the tree while the squirrel was collecting nuts. He waited until she came back in the tree then jumped. The squirrel let out a squeal of terror that was cut off as he bit the back of its neck. He went to collect his other prey then went back to camp.

Well I have not read all of the black stallion series yet. I am on number 3 'Son of the Black Stallion. I hope to read all of the black stallion books! They are me favorite besides Warriors and, Harry Potter. I hope to buy all of the Black Stallion books, because I already have all of the Warrior books that have come out, I also have all of the Harry Potter books that have come out. Reading is my favorite thing to do. If I start on a book i can't stop until I'm finished.
