Very Creepy In Parts!!! I can't believe this book won an award in 1996. Like the reviewer dated 2-17-14 I didn't feel at all comfortable what Cord did 18 years ago, and what his part was with the present, without confessing. I don't want to be a spoiler, but that ruined the story for me. Granted, it had suspense, some plot twists, and things I just can't explain without giving the plot away. I don't feel this is worth $4.99 as a single book, but I bought it as part of the Bodyguard bundle, so I have 4 other books to enjoy. On a creepy scale - 1 star, just not my type of book. (ljb)

I have mixed feelings about this book.  My heart went out to Cord and I felt bad for Stacey but the plot was creepy (and I'm not talking about the stalker!)  There were some loose ends that were never addressed such as the second person in the original attack and the father character did not act the way I thought was real.  Who lets a man you hate sleep inside your daughter's one bedroom apartment even if he is the bodyguard?  So overall, an uneven effort.

This is my 2nd Kathryn Shay book since The Betrayal and I'm still tring to find the next great book from KS. This is not it. A little icky on the relationship between Cord and Stacey after what Cord was to Helene. And does KS believe every woman's best friend betrays them?
