Ginny Baird's The Calendar Brides
Twelve granddaughters share one goal, all in the name of love.

Twelve women with big hearts and slim wallets want to do something special for their grandmother. At eighty-seven, the family matriarch has reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, and wants to elope to Sicily. The catch is her intended is poor, and Nona D'Amato doesn't have the travel cash herself.

When they put their heads together, can her twelve granddaughters help their Nona achieve her dream? All it takes is a little ingenuity and a very clever plan. Meet Emma, Claire, Angie, Haley, Bev, Jane, Tiny, Zoe, Lena, Trish, Susan and Rachel, as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime--all in the name of l'amore.

Meet the D'Amato women and their men!

Emma is the oldest and a smart mouth. She loves late-night pizza, her puppy, and Donny--whom she hated in high school.

Emma's sweet sister Claire reports the weather and collects seashells. Brainy Brad helps her see stars.

Stay-at-home mom Angie pretends to Zumba. Hot hubby Jason doesn't miss a step.

Angie's athletic twin Haley is a baker on the move. Mountain biker Peter grooves with her.

World traveler Bev craves adventure. Photojournalist Will has a passport, too.

Jane is a serious-minded thinker. Dry-witted Richard makes her laugh--and sigh.

Feisty Tiny has loved Jimmy for decades. Now, they're building a future together.

Tiny's artist sister Zoe has a secret wish. Does sexy Dillon share it?

Bev's sister Lena sings for her supper. Unconventional Ryan digs her act.

Only child Trish speaks her mind. Laid-back Leo knows how to listen.

Jane's shy sister Susan is a lonely knitter... Then handsome Kyle smiles her way.

Rachel is the baby and a dreamer. Kindly, older Tom wants to give her the moon.

Lucia vowed to marry Luigi at fourteen. He still waits for her in Italy. It's never too late for love!

Come join them all in this lively, romantic tale, just in time for the New Year!

Nona loves her granddaughters and has helped them in so many ways. Now they have a chance to give back. Nona has reconnected with Luigi. He was her first love. Now they have reconnected on Facebook and she wants to go to Sicily to be with him. Her granddaughters decide to raise the money for her trip. They come up with the idea to have each of them be photographed in a wedding gown. It's perfect! There are twelve women and twelve months. I loved Calendar Brides. The storyline is entertaining and innovative. I got a glimpse into each of their love lives. As an added bonus there was Nona's love story as the centerpiece. All the characters are well written. Each has their own distinct personality. I was charmed by these vignettes. All the stories fit together perfectly to create a feel good romance that left me smiling. Ginny Baird wrote witty and romantic dialogue that added to the mood. I was rooting for them to succeed. Nona deserved to be happy. It's so nice to see an older person who is living life to the fullest. I couldn't put this book down. It satisfied my soul.

This is a wonderfully sweet story of 12 young woman, all cousins, working together to send their Nonna to Italy to see the man that has recaptured her heart after so many years apart. To raise the money to achieve this they decide to put together a calendar telling each of their stories of love found or yearned for. It's wonderfully written and each woman's story is warm and heart touching. I definitely recommend this book!

I absolutely loved this story! I have read quite a few books by Ginny Baird and enjoyed each one of them, but this one is my favorite so far. The personalities of all of the characters are so wonderful that you can’t help but find something you like in each person. I laughed, and I cried because the relationship that the granddaughters have with their grandmother is so beautiful that you will find your heart swelling with love for every one of them. I really didn’t want to see this book come to an end. I’m looking forward to see what’s next from Ms. Baird.  I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Ginny Bird's The Calendar Brides Clever, surprising, irresistible, sweet read!!! This book will appeal to all. There is a mixture of family and personal values spiced with humorous situations. There are twelve stories woven around the twelve D’Amato granddaughters. The main plot of the book resolves around Grandma ( Nona) D’Amato. Each story becomes incorporated into one smooth tale tottering back and forth between the past and present. The author describes the dynamics between various characters with such real life descriptions that the reader feels like they are right there observing each scene. Read the book, You will enjoy it!! Thanks to the author for the eBook. My opinion is my own.

'The Calendar Brides' by Ginny Baird is a wonderful story. I loved reading about Nona Lucia and her twelve granddaughters: Emma, Claire, Angie, Haley, Bev, Jane, Tiny, Zoe, Lena, Trish, Susan and Rachel. This is a little different from your normal romance, but I highly enjoyable read. Ginny has written another great story. Highly recommend to all fans of romance.

I just loved this concept of telling the story of beginnings. Each bride is featured in this book as well as based in a love story concerning the grandmother who is loved and revered by all. While the first chapter is a little confusing, I would recommend preserving to continue to the heart of the story. The plot engaged, thrilled, and challenged me to keep reading. A wealth of discovery is offered the reader who finishes the book to anticipate the next chapter in the lives of these women. I look forward to more of this series. A definite 5 stars despite the slow start.

The Calendar Brides is written very differently from any romance books I've read. I thought it was a really great and special way of writing. At first I thought it would be 12 individual stories of brides. But when I started reading, I was pleasantly surprised. The story features Grandma Nona and her twelve granddaughters. Nona tells the girls about Luigi, her first long lost love who lives in Italy.  She had recently connected with him through the internet and they had found out how much they were still in love with each other. Luigi has asked Grandma Nona to marry him but she cannot afford the trip to Italy. Her granddaughters come up with a great idea to raise money by putting together a calendar where all twelve girls dress up as brides and write small descriptions of their own love story. Not all of the girls were married or were in a relationship. As they put together the calendar, those who were married remembered how they met their husbands and how they fell in love. Those who were not in a relationship found a chance at love. Although their love stories were quite short, I loved how the whole story came together.

Ginny Baird's, The Calendar Girls, is a sweet story about cousins, love, and commitment.  It features the patriarch of the family, Grandma Nona, and her twelve granddaughters.  Nona tells the girls one day about Luigi, her first long love who lives in Italy she would love to be reunited with him but cannot afford the trip.  All twelve granddaughters come up with a great idea to raise money to send her to her love, Luigi.  They decide to put together a calendar in which all twelve girls dress up as brides and write small descriptions of their own love story. Once the money is raised Nona will be accompanied to Italy by one of the granddaughters. Will the calendar be a success? Will Nona get to her true love Luigi? The Calendar Brides is a great story about the love between cousins and their grandmother.

What a wonderful heart warming romance of twelve granddaughters trying to earn money by selling calendars of their own love stories, to send their Nonna back to Italy for her first love. Each chapter was a story of the granddaughter's true love or hopeful for. This book makes you believe in true love. I highly recommend for a sweet romance. I received this book from the author for an honest review.

"I was given a copy of The Calendar Brides in exchange for an honest review. Ginny Baird, the Queen of sweet romance, has done it again with this poignant story...actually twelve stories, plus that of the D'Amato family, and Grandma Nona.  Twelve wedding dresses as different as the twelve women who wore them. Twelve women, twelve cousins with twelve very different lives, trials, happiness. They come together for a wonderful cause...getting their grandmother back to her homeland. Memories tug at your heart as you read the stories of Emma, Rachel, Zoe and the others. This isn't your typical romance. There is more meat to the story than the normal Ginny romances.  Everyone needs a Luigi....and what a delight to have a snippet of The Christmas Catch. This is a delightful read and I highly recommend it."
