It is a history of the Chitty Melaka (as known as Chetty Malacca) community. They originated in Sultanate times in Malacca when Hindu Tamil traders began settling down with the Malay (and later Chinese) ladies, leading to creation of this unique "Peranakan Indian" community, who have since outlasted four colonial powers.
