This is a study of the churches of Nobadia - the most northerly of the three medieval Nubian kingdoms. Since more than two-thirds of its territory has now been flooded by the successive Aswan dams, and much of the remainder has been surveyed by archaeologists, there is probably not a great deal remaining to be learned.
