About the Author

Born in Germany in 1916, Gershon Kranzler was able to see Torah and Derech Eretz in harmony. He studied at studied at the Maximillian University in
Wurzburg, and the Hildesheimer University in Berlin, completing a doctorate in Philosophy in 1938, and a doctorate in sociology at Columtia University later. He worked with Vaad Hatzalah during World War II, and had a long career in Jewish education, serving as assistant principal of
Torah Vodaath in Brooklyn, principal
of Zichron Moshe in the Bronx, and principal of Bais Yaakov on the Lower East
Side, creating the Esther
