The Commitment (The Unrestrained Series, #2) by S. E. Lund

Journalism graduate student Kate McDermott is a good girl who has done everything she can to please her very powerful and domineering father -- a Justice on New York's Supreme Court with hopes for political office.

When she decides to write an article about BDSM in popular culture, she tells herself it's just research and nothing personal for she can't afford to become the target of gossip or scandal. She hopes that the carefully worded agreement she writes up will keep her relationship with the Dominant she will interview strictly professional.

Then 'Master D' - Drake Morgan - walks into the interview and Kate is mortified for not only is he gorgeous, he's the son of her father's best and oldest friend…

Drake Morgan, MD, bass player, philanthropist – Dominant. Known as Master 'D' in Manhattan's BDSM Community, Drake must keep the kinky side of his life secret to protect his very successful career as a neurosurgeon. After a heartbreaking divorce, Drake doesn't do girlfriends, he doesn’t do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. He keeps everything in his well-ordered life separate and under his firm control.

Then Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up. Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore, and no longer under control for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy…

Now, in the weeks before they leave for Africa, Drake takes Kate more deeply into the D/s lifestyle. In the process, the walls between them continue to crumble as they explore each other physically and emotionally and they fall even more deeply in love. But before they can even leave Manhattan, the past returns unexpectedly to challenge their blossoming relationship.

Is Kate and Drake's commitment to each other strong enough to stand the test?

By the USA Today Bestselling Romance author S. E. Lund, The Commitment is the much-anticipated sequel to The Agreement, Book 1 of the Unrestrained Series.

The unrestrained series is stunning.  I intended to read all three books on my nook but B& N has neglected to provide book three for Nook subscrribers.  Why sell us two books of a trilogy and not book three?  Pretty shoddy business practice.  Amazon has book three as it has been available since Jan. 2014.  Also available from Amazon is the total trilogy for 99  cents.  So, B &N WHAT ARE GOING TO DO FOR YOUR LOYAL NOOK CUSTOMERS?  This is my fourth attempt to communicate with you-whoever you are-and I am wonderiing if I will be able to read the third book in this trilogy or are you forcing me and others to find a more dependable source to enjoy our e reading?

Well. This was a surprising book. It is about BDSM, mostly D/s. I didn't think I would like it but it grows on you. There's a lot of things in the beginning that may make you it is a time for Kate to decide if D/s is for her. Then she meets the guy who will be her Dom and he turns out to be the guy her father just introduced her to in his matchmaking attempts. She is mortified. He is delighted although she doesn't know that. He pursues her relentlessly to get her to agree to be his sub. That seemed highly unlikely but it made for a good story. This was well written & the author handles the subject tastefully.

I love where Lund is taking Drake and Kate's story. More importantly I like that while this is in the genre of 50 shades, the storyline is totally different. Finally a normal guy who happens to be into bdsm. Can't wait to read the third installment. 233 pgs.

When looking at the.books, on my nook at least, DRAKE 2 is not next to DRAKE 1 The next.boik in line is this one and since its states number 2 you would assume it WAS number.2 DRAKE 2 is down the line in the list.and.not.seen without scrolling so... ugh get a clue how you set these up or have some damn warnings rigjt away

I was really looking forward to the continuation of Kate and Drake's story. Unfortunately, Kate started to get too whiney and undecided for me and I began to get irritated with her. I ultimately got disinterested in the story because of it. KUDOS to the twist, but the balance between lifetime partner and sub in the bedroom was ignored for much of the book. I can't say I've ever read a book where the sub was complaining that she hadn't had sex in 2 days. I'm not sure why she was feeling neglected because of that. It just wasn't really relatable or believable for me. Drake was his usual stand up self, and handled all of the drama unfolding in his life fairly well from dealing with his ex-wife, her new husband, hospital staff, his jealousy and trust in Kate. He even got sick - which was a nice touch. Dom's are rarely vulnerable in books, so it was great to see. It seemed like there was less conversation, more assumptions and a story that needed Kate to have more of a dynamic role. I kept wondering where the Kate from The Agreement went. She was strong and self-assured. The ending was surrprising. I was forseeing an HEA, but this was unexpected.
