This is the story of Yates, the heir to an earldom, and Cassandra, a lady who is believed to have been the cause of his friend's death by dueling. Cassandra lives on the fringe of respectable society after being "ruined" by failing to marry the gentleman responsible. 6 yrs after her fall from grace, Cassadra starts spending time with Yates as they deal with an issue concerning earrings of hers that he purchased at an auction. She becomes compromised again and agrees to marry him if he will help her with a family problem. They marry and try to navigate their new marriage and deal with family issues from both sides. Excellent primary and subplot. Great character develpment. 4+ steam.

Good read with a lady in distress who has a handsome man to rescue her. Typical, but enjoyable also.

Loved this story. Much more involved and the inclusion of the historical aspects, art, gems, etc. only enhances it. More please!

Good in the beggining, faults some in the middle, but ifs good again. I did find the book boring in some parts and somewhat confusing, but still a good read

Welll written historical romance novel. The mystery and intrigue were marvelously done witha  surprising conclusion that  clears everything up at the end. Madeline Hunter is a wonderful writer. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

Being a fan of Madeline Hunter, I am sure this book will be as great if not better than her previous stories, but it is not available until September 25,2012. Not even as a preorder. I would order this book that far in advance if it were available. Why the request for a review? I adore Madeline Hunter and I have most of her work on nook or in paperback.
