I checked this out of the local library before buying as I am trying to wean myself from acquiring cookbooks (like shoes, I have way too many!). It is wonderful. I love the sections for each recipe on "why this recipe works." It's a really great omnibus cookbook from appetizers to desserts. It is on my Christmas want list. My favorite "quip" is about how you can't get zest from a glass bottle of key lime juice.

One of my 3 most used cookbooks. Easy to follow, recipes that always turn out well. I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone.

Just yesterday I had to return my library copy. My cook book hutch is full after 22 years of cooking....but I will make room for this one. It is the perfect gift for the high school or college grad to get them started on a life time of gatherings with friends or family; memories will be made with this book. Every recipe I tried from grilled corn(one chapter on grilling!) to beef empanadas with spicy chorizo filling to the peach cobbler was excellent. Kitchen was a bit more messier but the table reviews of "Yum" were worth it.

An excellent cookbook to have and actually use. Light on photographs, but heavy in usable content, this edition is filled with recipes that actually work.

This is the only cookbook needed. If it isn't in this book they haven't made it yet. Also tells why a recipe woke. Can't go wrong with this book.
